#10 Toluna app

The app
iOS and Android · short polls; longer surveys on the website
Cash out from
Around $7 to $10depends on your country
Paid via
PayPal · Gift cards · Products

Toluna is one of the big paid survey sites. It is available more or less worldwide and also has an app. Toluna mostly offers paid surveys as a way to earn, but it also regularly has free contests you can participate in, and you can also earn by creating content and questions for other Toluna members. So in that way, there is also a social aspect to Toluna. You can also earn by voting for short polls created by other members.

On the app, it is mostly these short polls that are to be found, but the app is also very good for this, and the polls usually do not take more than a few seconds to answer, so it is easy to do once in a while. Personally, I mostly use the app for the short polls and then use the website for longer surveys.

Toluna has quite frequent surveys, and sometimes even 1-2 a day, but this depends on where you live. You can get paid through PayPal, gift cards, or products.

The advantage of having the YouGov app is that you will get a notification when a new survey is available. But when you click the survey in the app, you will be taken to your internet browser to do the survey.

So, not much different from just clicking the invitation link in emails that you get from YouGov. So, having the app mostly makes sense if you like getting notifications as soon as a new survey is available. The app also gives a good overview of your account and your earnings.

YouGov has good payout methods in most countries, but the exact threshold and methods vary from country to country.

#17 Triaba app

The app
Via the Opini app · surveys
Cash out from
Around $5 to $15depends on your country

Triaba is one of the platforms that uses the same survey app as several other sites. This means that you have to download the Opini app to be able to get access to Triaba’s surveys on the go.

It offers a decent number of surveys, and the surveys will be in your local language, and so will the currency.

You can get your earnings out when you have earned around $7, depending on the country. You can get paid via PayPal or gift cards.

#18 Surveyeah app

The app
Via the Opini app · surveys
Cash out from
$10
Paid via
PayPal · Amazon gift cards · Western Union +1 more

Surveyeah does not work quite like the other apps on this list, as it does not have its survey app as such.

But you can still take surveys on your mobile through an app by installing an app called Opini. This is an app that gathers surveys from several different panels, and Surveyeah is one of them.

It does not offer a huge number of surveys, but it can still be a nice extra platform to use. You can get your earnings out when you have earned $10.

It is only available if you live in the US or Canada. The payout threshold for gift cards starts at $3, but if you want a payout through PayPal, you have to earn $25 first.

#23 Nielsen Mobile Panel

Available in
The app
Passive appEarns from anonymous internet-use data · not always recruiting
Cash out from
Depends on your country
Paid via
Gift cards · Products · PayPal (some countries)

Nielsen Computer and Mobile Panel is quite different from most of the other survey apps on this list. This is because you do not actually have to do anything actively to earn from it.

You will be earning passively by giving feedback just by having the app installed. It anonymously collects data about your internet usage that will be combined with other data and used for market research. And you will get paid for this without having to actively do anything else.

It is not an app where you can earn a huge amount, but you also do not have to do anything once it is installed. The exact rewards and payout methods depend on your country.
Nielsen Mobile Panel is available in several countries, but they are not looking for new members. By clicking the link below, you can see the countries they are currently recruiting in.

Timebucks is a GPT site that gives a lot of different ways to earn. But they also have an app that is only focused on surveys, which can make it easy to get to them.

You cannot get access to all the surveys Timebucks offers through the app, so it is still a good idea to use the website to earn the most. But the app can be a nice addition.

Passive appShares your unused internet · Android and computer
Cash out from
$0.50 crypto$0.50 gift cards$20 PayPal

PayPal · Crypto · Gift cards

Honeygain is actually not a survey app at all, but I still decided to include it on this list as it can be a great way to earn passively from your phone while taking surveys.

All you have to do is install the app, and you will then earn just by having it installed and sharing your unused internet. It will not give you huge earnings, but you also literally do not have to do anything.

And if you join through an invitation link (like the one below), you will also get a $3 joining bonus into your account right away. Once you have earned $20, you can take your earnings out via PayPal. You can also redeem crypto and gift cards via JumpTask, and the threshold will only be $0.50.

The app
Android · surveys, videos, offers, games, faucet
Cash out from
$3Bitcoin from $5
Paid via
Bitcoin · Dogecoin · Dash +1 more

Cointiply is only relevant if you want to earn Bitcoin through a survey app – if you do, then this can be a great option.

In addition to taking surveys, you can also earn by watching videos, clicking ads, taking offers, playing games, using a faucet, and more. So it gives plenty of ways to earn once you just take the time to learn how to navigate the site.

You can only get paid in Bitcoin and withdraw once you have earned $3.50. You can also choose to leave your earnings in your Cointiply account and earn interest this way.

#29 Google Rewards App

Available in
More or less worldwide
The app
iOS and Android · a few short surveys
Cash out from
Nonecredit goes to Google Play
Paid via
Google Play credit · PayPal (some countries)

The Google Rewards app is only relevant if you ever use the Google Play Store. If you do, then this app can be an easy way to earn a bit of credit.

It does not offer a lot of surveys, but the ones that are there are quite short and easy to do and pay decently.

There is no payout threshold, as you can just use your earnings in Google Play. So it is not very flexible and does not give as many options as many of the other apps on this list, but if you use Google Play, it can be great to join as an extra survey panel.

#30 CashKarma app

Available in
The app
iOS and Android, app only · surveys, bonuses, trailers
Cash out from
$1 gift cards$3 PayPal
Paid via
PayPal · Gift cards

CashKarma is one of the options on the list that only exists as an app, and it is a pretty decent option.

The rewards are not super high, but it has a good number of surveys, and you can also earn by getting different bonuses, watching trailers, and if you join through the button below, you will also get 300 free points right away.

The payout threshold starts at $5 but depends on the reward you choose. Overall, it can be a nice extra site if you want to have as many surveys and GPT options as possible on your mobile.

#31 Ember Fund

The app
iOS and Android · surveys, tasks, Bitcoin mining button
Cash out from
$50around 50K sats

Bitcoin

Ember Fund is a paid survey app with a twist, as it also offers a nice passive way to earn.

You can just click a button once per day, and then you will mine Bitcoin in the background for 24 hours even if your phone is off. And if you combine it with the paid surveys and other earning options it offers, it can be a great way to earn some extra money.

If you are looking for a survey app to earn Bitcoin for free, this is one of the best options.

The ways you can earn are by taking surveys, watching videos, participating in contests, and downloading apps. If you live in the US or Canada, you can also get cashback when shopping online.

Overall, a very user-friendly survey app with quite a lot of different ways to earn as well. And it has great payout methods, and you can request a payout already when you have earned $5, which will not take long.

#33 MobileXpression

Available in
The app
Passive appEarns from internet-use data · select countries and devices
Cash out from
$5gift cards, after the first week
Paid via
Gift cards

MobileXpression is not the app that offers the most paid surveys, but it offers another way to earn passively. It is one of the apps where you can earn by just having the app installed and sharing info about your internet usage this way.

You will also get occasional paid surveys, but the main way to earn is by just having the app installed.

MobileXpression does, however, only accept members from select countries and with select devices. This changes regularly, but you can click the button below to see where they are recruiting at the moment. If your country and device are not on the list, it can still be worth trying to join, as they update the options regularly.

#34 National Consumer Panel

Available in
USA
The app
Scan your groceries with the app · US only
Cash out from
Around 8,000 points
Paid via
Products

National Consumer Panel is another app you can use to earn by giving feedback differently. As a member, you have to scan groceries and answer surveys and questions about them to help shops with market research that way.

It used to only be available with a handheld scanner, but now they also have an app that makes it a lot more convenient. It takes some extra time to do, but if you have that time when you do your shopping anyway, it can be a fun and different way to earn a bit extra.

You earn points when you participate, and you can then collect these and choose between many rewards from their gift catalog.

Why use an app for doing surveys?

An app is an easy way to fit paid surveys into your schedule. Most of us have our phones with us most of the time, so you can do surveys in little breaks.

  • Use the small breaksI like doing surveys when I am waiting somewhere: at the dentist, for public transport, or for a friend. I check social media a little less and earn a bit instead.
  • No computer neededHandy when you have a bit of time but cannot be bothered to turn on your computer.
  • Get there before surveys fill upSurveys often have limited spots. Apps send a notification when new surveys are available, so you have a better chance to take them in time.

It can boost your earnings

Getting to more surveys before they close can boost your overall survey earnings.

How to select reliable apps?

Many apps claim you can earn by taking surveys. Searching the app store for “best survey apps for money” is not a good way to find them: you get hundreds of suggestions, and many are not very good. I have tested random ones from that list, and I was not impressed.

Random apps from the app store

Many of them are not very good, and you can end up wasting a lot of time on them. Believe me, I have tried.

Apps from reliable survey companies

I prefer apps from survey companies that also have a website with good options and good service. In general, the best survey apps come from them.

Take care with what you install

Do not download just any random app on your phone. There is a better chance an app is secure when a reliable company is behind it.

An app can still be good without a survey website behind it. I keep testing those apps too and update the list.

How the 34 apps pay youNumber of apps that offer each payout method. Many apps offer more than one.
  • PayPal29 of 34
  • Gift cards28 of 34
  • Crypto8 of 34
  • Bank transfer5 of 34

Is it necessary to use an app to do surveys on the go?

No. If your favorite survey site has no app, there is a good chance you can still use it on your phone or tablet. Many survey sites have a mobile-friendly website.

  1. Open the site on your phoneLog in to the survey site in your mobile browser.
  2. Stay logged inAsk the site to keep you logged in. I do this with PrizeRebel, one of my favorite sites, which has no app.
  3. Check in when you have timeOpen it and see if there are opportunities that fit into your schedule.

The only downside

You do not get a notification when a survey is available, as you do with most apps.

Not always a loss

To be honest, I find app notifications a bit stressful at times, so I often turn them off anyway. That is a matter of personal preference.

How to get the most out of survey apps?

Many apps on the list do not only offer paid surveys. These are often called GPT (Get-Paid-To) apps. Using their other options is a great way to boost your earnings.

  • Small online tasks
  • Watching videos
  • Cashback when shopping online
  • Contests
  • Join several appsMany of them have different options, so more apps give you more opportunities.
  • Start with 6 to 8That gives you access to quite a lot of opportunities.

What you can expect

Some nice extra money on the side, depending on where you live and the apps you join. It is 100% free, and you make a profit from day 1.

What you should not expect

Paid surveys are not a way to become rich or make a living, whether you use an app or a website.

How I choose the sites on this list

What I look at

  • Apps from reliable survey companies
  • Legit apps that actually pay
  • Good opportunities to earn
  • Free to join and use

What readers ask in the comments

This page has 90 comments since 2017, and I answered 44 of them. These are the questions that come up most, with my answers.

Which apps work in my country?Asked about 10 times

My answer: Some of them are available in more or less all countries. You can see on the list where each app is available. If none of them works where you live, check out my list of the best international sites.

Can I earn a full income or earn fast with these apps?Asked about 4 times

My answer: Survey apps can make you some nice extra money on the side, but they will not make you rich. If you want to earn more as soon as you start, you need a remote job where an employer hires you.

Why is a certain site not on this list?Asked about 4 times

My answer: Some good survey sites do not have an actual app, and that is why they are not on this list. Others I do not think are that great, or I no longer recommend them. My full reviews explain why.

Are the apps in the App Store, or can I use a browser?Asked about 2 times

My answer: Many of them are available in both the App Store and the Google Play Store. Some of the options also have websites.

Can you help me privately on WhatsApp?Asked about 2 times

My answer: I do not offer private support via WhatsApp. If you have any questions, just ask in a comment here.

Can I make many accounts on one app to earn more?Asked about 1 times

My answer: No, that is fraud and will just get you banned.

How can you test apps from so many countries?Asked about 1 times

My answer: Most of the apps and sites are available in many countries, and I live in a country where most of them are available. I also travel a lot and have lived in quite a few countries, so I can test even more options.

Frequently asked questions

What is the highest paying survey app?

It depends on where you live. Branded Surveys is one of the highest-paying survey sites, and its app works in the US, UK and Canada.

On HeyCash, the rewards are quite high compared to many other apps. Opinion Edge even gives you a reward for surveys you do not qualify for.

Can you make $100 a day doing surveys?

No, do not expect that. Paid surveys are not a way to become rich or make a living, whether you use an app or a website.

They can make you some nice extra money on the side. How much depends on where you live and the apps you join.

Which survey pays instantly?

On HeyCash and AttaPoll, you get paid more or less immediately after you ask for a payout. Prime Opinion usually processes a payment within 30 minutes.

What is the best free survey app?

All the apps on this list are free to join and use. My top 3 are Branded Surveys (US, UK and Canada), Freecash (more or less all countries) and TopSurveys (40+ countries).

Join 6 to 8 apps for a start, so you have access to quite a lot of opportunities.

Are online survey apps safe?

Not every app is. Do not download just any random app from the app store: many are not very good.

I prefer apps from survey companies that also have a reliable website. There is a better chance an app is secure when a reliable company is behind it.

Does TopSurveys actually pay?

Yes. TopSurveys is on this list, and every app here pays. You need $5 to cash out, and it has an app for Android and iOS.

  2. Pawns, ySense, Attapoll, Honeygain and Mobrog works for me. Did not try Emberfund, Cashcarma, opinion berau. Half of them are US UK only. Additionaly surveytime.io works for me as well. Surveoo used to be great, but most of the surveys are fairlly low reward

    • Thanks for sharing your experiences. Many of these apps are available in other countries than the US and UK, but you are right that there are more opportunities for paid surveys in those two countries than in most other countries, in general.

As for Surveytime, it used to be on this list, but I no longer recommend it because of the reasons you can read about in my full Surveytime review here.

  4. Hello,Mikael! I was looking into your websites full time income section and came across some offers that you can promote offers. Do you have to have a blog or a YouTube channel to be able to promote those kind of offers?

    • What are income goals, how much time and money are you willing to expect, and how fast do you expect to earn? I need to know more about this to see I can suggest anything.

      Reply
        • How fast are you expecting to start earning? Because with the effort you are willing to put in, I would suggest you build your own online business. But you need to do it with the right expectations and know it will take a lot of effort and several months of hard work before the income will start and it will start slowly. But then the earning potential is also huge.
If you are looking to start earning here and now and want to earn that much, your best chances are to get hired to do a remote job. It will not give the same freedom but if you can find one, you can start earning faster.

          • Thank you so much for your advice — it really means a lot. I’m a teenage orphan from Nigeria with siblings to take care of, and I’ve tried many ways to earn online, affiliate marketing, CPA, freelancing, even buying courses etc but nothing has truly worked out. I’ve spent a lot of time researching and learning, and I was lucky to come across your videos.
Since you’re experienced in this, I was hoping you could suggest several platforms I could combine daily, where I can work 18 hours a day to earn a fixed $20+, and that don’t require stressful KYC processes. I also have a Trust Wallet, so I can easily withdraw any earnings in crypto if needed.
Getting this guidance could truly change my life and help me provide for my siblings, giving us stability and hope. I’m ready to dedicate everything I have to make it work, and your advice could make a huge difference for us.

  5. Hi Mikael. Me again . I have contacted Cash Camel many times about my query on the login issues I get sometimes. The app simply just won’t accept my email address at all. Is this a demographics issue or what ? I don’t know really.. they have not replied back either. I have changed my app password many times, just to be able to log in. But it is not normal. It should not do this. Can you give me advice on this please? We don’t use ZIP codes here in SA. Only postal addresses

  6. Hi Mikael, you introduce the special sites of each country and claim that you used them and got paid! How is this possible!? It seems that you also use vpn or vps
Because if you don’t use this way, then you can’t say that you used them as a citizen of that country

  7. You should add Qmee as they pay without having to reach a dollar amount of even $1. You can cash out at 10 cents and I’ve never had an issues . Made over $900 in less than a year and got paid via PayPal instantly

  9. Dear Mike

I have been completing surveys for 6 months now. I used to get 1 Dollar per survey. Now I only get points. Is this something new? Sometimes I do a full survey up to 20 minutes then get a response that I didn’t qualify.

Please could you tell me if this is normal.

    Kind regards
    Kathy Visser

    • some survey sites use points and some use dollars. And usually, the reward will depend on the survey and varies a lot depending on the particular survey site you are using. So difficult to say more before knowing which particular site you are referring to?

  10. I love Toluna and used their old app all the time, however I am disappointed with their new app. Although there are new features they removed the best features.
Since Toluna is a community it seems to be a big oversight to not be able to use the app to interact with the community and many members have raised this issue.
I now use my phone browser to interact with the community and answer polls and seldom use the app,

    • Thanks for sharing your experiences David. I agree that it would be great if it was easier to access the community part of Toluna through the app.

  12. I do survey junkie/ InboxDollars/ Pinecone Research just to name a few last week I cashed out 46 bucks on survey Junkie two weeks ago I cashed out 97 on InboxDollars a month ago I cashed out 104 on pine cone I’m not going to say it doesn’t take time because it does it takes a lot of time
so my advice would be if you don’t have time you probably don’t want to do surveys because it does take time but if you do start doing surveys take your time read every question be honest truthful and consistent the main thing to remember is to take your time if you try to speed through the survey they will probably boot you off Good luck to everyone

  13. I have used a few of those survey sites and never really earned anything from them because I found most of them didn’t work for me.

From my experience, I wouldn’t get the points after completing the surveys or it would just redirect me to more surveys.

I do remember signing up for prize rebel many years ago before got into using the survey sites and didn’t know how to use it so I stopped using it and have not used it since but I am somewhat interested in trying it again after reading this.

My question is, which survey site do you think is the best and pays the quickest?

    Reply
    • Thanks for your comment Arie.

If you did not get the rewards you earned, it sounds like you joined some pretty poor sites. There are many that will pay you without any problems.

Which survey sites are the best depends a lot on the country you live in. For English-speaking countries, SwagBucks and PrizeRebel can be really good. If you live in another part of the world it depends where, but ClixSense has good opportunities for many countries. On all of these, you can quickly earn enough to get a payout.

      All the best,
      Mikael

  14. I have done a couple of paid survey app websites over the recent years and have found the majority a waste of time. I think it usually wastes more time than money you could make. However, you have mentioned a couple of sites I havent used before so maybe I’ve been using the wrong ones.

    Reply
  15. Personally, I have always avoided survey sites. When considering the little amount of money to be made, you need to also consider the amount of time you spend to make that small amount. From the list of sites that you mention, SwagBucks is the only one that I have tried. From what I remember, I was constantly getting emails telling me that I was in danger of losing a bunch of points or something. I would then frantically try to go do what I was told to do. Then when I would log in, I was not eligible for any surveys! I could have this all wrong, I might not have understood how it worked and did not need to get frustrated. After reading your post though, I like the idea of doing surveys that have apps – it would seem as if I am making good use of free time rather than wasting my time. As long as most of these sites pay cash and not merchandise credit, I would be willing to check them out.

    • Thanks for sharing your experiences Erin.

Some survey sites take a little getting use to, to figure out how they work, and how to use them the best. An important aspect is not to get frustrated when there are surveys we do not qualify for. That happens on almost all survey sites, but on most sites, after a little while it is possible to figure out what kinds of surveys you most often qualify for and just focus on those.

Another important aspect is that paid surveys are for making some extra money on the side, and by doing it with that approach and a bit of patience, they can make some really nice extra money. But often people expect surveys to make them a lot of money very fast, and then become frustrated. That is why I always emphasize on the importance of doing it with the right expectations, as it is then a great opportunity.

      All the best
      Mikael
