Is Honeygain legit and safe?
Yes, Honeygain is legit. I have been paid by it many times. But you share your internet connection with their clients, so you should understand what that means before you install it.
- Other companies use your connection
Honeygain shares your unused bandwidth with its clients for web intelligence and content delivery. A reader asked if your IP could be misused. I cannot say for sure it will never happen. Honeygain has to do a lot to avoid it, and I have not heard from anyone it has happened to, out of the thousands of people I have talked to about it. Only take part if you feel comfortable with it, and read the exact conditions.
- What Honeygain collects
Honeygain says it only gets your email address, payment information, device information such as IP address, operating system and device model, and network information. It says the software does not collect other personal information.
- Turn it off when you use survey sites
Survey sites have strict security, and it does not take much to get banned from some of them. I have not had a problem myself, but it is a good idea to turn Honeygain off while you use survey sites.
- It uses data and battery
It only makes sense on an unlimited internet plan. If you pay as you go, it can cost you more than you earn. On a phone, expect about 5% to 8% of battery per day.
- Manual install on Android
The Android app is not on Google Play. You download the APK from inside your Honeygain account and follow the step-by-step instructions.
- It does not work with a VPN
Honeygain and a VPN do not go together. One account for all your devices is the rule. Creating several accounts gets you banned.
My takeHoneygain’s main benefit is the effortless way you can earn extra cash. You can simply set it and forget it. But manage your expectations, as you will not be able to earn a lot from it. It can be a decent secondary way to earn next to other sites, because it really does not require any effort.

You can use it on Android, Linux, Mac and Windows. More devices means more earnings, up to 10 devices. But you can only have 1 device per network or IP address. This used to be 2.

An extra, effortless way to earn. You share your connection for heavy content such as video and audio. You enable it in the Honeygain settings.
It needs a stable connection and only works on Windows and macOS. There are limited spots, so you can end up in a queue. It is available in around 30 countries.
Referral program30% of their earnings
When someone joins through your link and installs the software, you earn 30% of their daily earnings. Honeygain pays it. It is not taken from their earnings. They also get the $3 joining bonus.

You earn badges for using the platform actively. Some give extra credits, others only a badge. It will not boost your earnings a lot.

How much can you make?
You earn 1 credit for every 10 MB you share. For 10 GB, you earn $1. So the more devices you run, on different networks, the more you earn.
According to Honeygain’s own calculator, sharing 10 GB per day gives around $30 per month. And 10 GB per day is a lot of data to share.
How much you earn also depends a lot on your country and the demand for traffic from that country, not only on the speed of your internet. If you find it hard to earn from your country, see these Honeygain alternatives.

On Honeygain itself you can also choose to get paid in Bitcoin.
The $20 threshold for PayPal is the most significant drawback, in my opinion. You can offset it if you cash out through JumpTask. But it is confusing that you have to go through another platform to get paid.
Do not join if you want your earnings out fast. If you want that, see the fastest-paying sites instead.

I was wondering, I read on different subreddit threads that there is the risk that users that install Honeygain (and similar like Pawns and PacketStream) might risk that their IP could be used “improperly” and you could have bad consequences from simply being shadow banned by services like Netflix, to attempts to steal your data and credentials from the devices where Honeygain is installed, to the big fear that your IP is used for doing very illegal stuff and then you could be held accountable as it’s your IP that was used.
To me it all sounds like a bunch of misinformation that is spread for creating a bit of chaos, but to be honest I fall a bit into the trap of being afraid about using these services and I was wondering if you could reassure me a bit.
I already checked on Honeygain website and of course they say I should not worry about the safety of my data, but they would be foolish to say the contrary.
Could you help me please on this regard?

It is good to be critical about something like this. I cannot say for sure it will not happen. But Pawns and Honeygain have to do a lot to try to avoid it as it would make them look very bad and they would not be able to continue if it happened. Cannot say it has never happened and never will happen, but personally I have not heard from anyone it has happened to out of the thousands of people I have talked to about it. But you should only participate in something you feel comfortable about and make sure to read the exact conditions.

Can I use two apps honeygain and pawn surveys at the same time to sell bandwidth
Yes, you can.
I’ve tried it over 2 days, and here are a few thoughts:
1. I have it on 4 devices on 4 different networks, two of them running 24/7, one of them 20h a day, and 1 about 8 hours a day. So far the “earnings” are 17 cents. Lets say 10 cents a day. To reach $20 i need 200 days. ? And they will take $2 when (if) i redeem.
2. I can’t use the content delivery from my country, so i can’t help anyone there.
3. I have a 50 Mb/s upload speed available with unlimited data. So potentially, i can transfer 2 Tb a day over 4 connections. They have used 200mb a day (by their calculations). So don’t think you can earn more if you have fast internet, they are not using it (don’t need it i guess)
4. HOWEVER, i do have a bandwidth calculator that counts every byte that every app uses over my connections, and i can tell you this:
Honeygains says they used 2.5 megabytes from one of my PC’s, but my usage app (NetWorx) claims honeygains app has used 97 megs. Soooo 40 times as much. And i do trust the NetWorx app, bcoz i have tested it a few times before and it is on the spot correct. I know all of the traffic doesn’t count towards the payout, but 40 TIMES AS MUCH SPENT is a BIG difference! So if they claim 10Gb for $1, i say i will spend 10*40 = 400Gb for $1.
Mikhael, have you tried calculating how much these apps really spend from your data? I haven’t seen anything that says you test that in your reviews.
5. All of this i mention is because i left the machines on for 24h a day, and i only need them probably is 6-8 hours. The remaining 18 hours they were on just to test the app. I don’t mind the GB i spend because i pay 9 euro fixed rate for 40 Gbps Optic unlimited, BUT i do mind the POWER they consume, coz that is not a fix charge LOL. 4 PCs x lets say 120w each that is almost 0.5 megawatts that costs me 10 cents an hours, so $2.4 a day. I earned 10 cents, so in fact i lost almost 5 dollars in 2 days.
–Thank you Mikhael– for all the work you do to give us these infos, i really do appreciate it. Please try measuring the outgoing traffic yourself and compare it to what they claim they used from you. I tried it, and i can say this is a good way for me to lose money, nothing else. Even if my power was free, earning $30 a year with four PCs (which i doubt many people out there have) is just…. aaaahh. ?

They must think people in 3rd world countries use free Wi-Fi. And I wonder who in their rightful senses would do this kind of gig in First World Countries.
As I write above, it only makes sense to use something like this if you have an unlimited internet plan, which many people do, and then you do not need to do anything to earn a bit extra, even thouhg it will not be a lot.

Thanks Mikael, I’m in the U.S., you would think it would be faster here. Oh .. another thing to mention, also does not work with VPN, VPN has to be turned off in order to work which is kind of a bummer because I like to use VPN for extra security. Other than that it does work.

You can just turn it off by going to the settings in the app and stop it or log out.

it takes more than 1 year to get 20,000 honey gain points. payout is still in progress from tipalti, its been 7 days. . they take (fee) is 2.40$ . i will only get 17.60. (actually they take 2400 HG points).

Also, how much you can earn depends on many different things. Personally, it does not take me long to reach the $20.
I think Honeygain is great! I’ve made some decent money just from linking up some old computers and phones I had kicking around. I don’t mind getting paid out in JMPT and it was easy enough to get it over into my Binance account.

I’ve read that they use your GPU power in secret (in other words mine on your computer). Do you find any evidence towards this?
I have never seen evidence of this but only heard it from unreliable sources that do not seem to know what they are talking about. But if you have concerns like that, I would suggest you contact their support.
Anyway, even if they did that, it would not really make a difference as long as they pay people what they promise:-) But as mentioned, it does not really make sense if you look into the business model they have which is about something completely different.

You can use 2 devices per network. If you want to use more than 2 devices, you have to use different networks.
My internet speed is 100mbs and 1000gb per month but i have pc only can i earn 100 dollar within a month
You can go to their website where they have a calculator that shows how much you can expect to earn. I would suggest using that to get an idea.

Few questions. I have an unlimited WiFi connection with 5 members in my household. Total, my family has 5 devices(4 mobiles + 1 laptop). Now, how many of these devices having these honeygain APKs/ softwares can be connected to the same WiFi?
Plus, I don’t understand one thing. Do I have to set a limit for how much bandwidth they can use?
The WiFi on my mobile is ON 24/7.
So when exactly will they use my unused data? When I’m not using my phone? Does any of my device have to be in any particular state(maybe at sleep?) in order for them to use our unused data?
My data usage is around 60GB per week.

You are right that it would be useful.
The reason my YouTube videos sometimes are behind is just that it takes quite a lot of time to both write articles and record and edit videos. So it will often not be at the same time. But when I then record the video, I also always go through the article again and update it if I have discovered anything new since first writing the review.
But the best way for you to get an overview of, for example, the newest survey reviews is by going to the end of a survey site review and there you can see the categories it belongs to. So if you then click “all survey sites reviews” you will get an overview of the newest of the posts in this category.
