I installed WalkTask and tested it to see if walking and playing games in the app is worth your time. It is legit and pays through PayPal, but the rewards are low and you watch a lot of ads. Below is what I found, and which apps I recommend instead.
Legit, but low rewards and a lot of ads
Coins for steps, games and daily tasks, with PayPal from 3,000 coins ($5). It takes quite a long time to earn a significant amount.

The short answer
WalkTask is legit, because you can really earn rewards from it. It is a mobile rewards app that turns your steps into coins. You can also earn from daily tasks, mobile games and referrals, and cash out to PayPal or gift cards.
But the rewards are low, so it will take quite a long time to earn a significant amount. You also watch video ads to claim rewards. It pales in comparison to other walk-to-earn apps, in my opinion.
- Available worldwide, as far as I can tell
- Offers a way to earn passively (walking)
- Offers payment via PayPal
- Easy sign-up with Google, Facebook or Apple ID
- Legit games through the PlayTime and Torox offerwalls
- Low rewards
- You’ll encounter ads while using the app
- Some games in the Play section look spammy
- Random, low referral rewards
- Mobile only

Is WalkTask legit and safe?
Yes, WalkTask is legit, because you can really earn rewards from it. But that does not automatically make it worth your while. Here is what you should know.
- Low rewards
If you rely only on walking, it takes quite a long time to collect a significant number of coins. The games pay a bit less than on other sites and apps with the same type of earning opportunity.
- A lot of ads
When I clicked my first gift box at 300 steps, I had to watch a video ad to claim the reward. It is how the app earns ad revenue to pay its members, but it hurts the user experience.
- Some games look spammy
Some games in the Play section look like get-rich-quick schemes. I recommend avoiding them and using the offerwalls like PlayTime or Torox instead.
- Open games from WalkTask
Always open a game from WalkTask, not from your phone’s menu, and allow the app to track data usage. Otherwise, it cannot track your progress.
My takeIn my opinion, WalkTask is not a bad app. However, it’s not that great either. Yes, you can earn passively just by walking, but the amount you can earn from it will be quite low. So I would only recommend this app if you desperately need an additional app to earn from.
How you earn on WalkTask
There are 4 ways to earn. Walking and games are the main ones. Tap one to read more.
WalkingRandom coins per gift box
Allow the app to track your movements, and it counts your steps each day. Once you reach a certain number of steps, you open a gift box for a random number of coins.
When I tested the app, the first checkpoint was 300 steps, and I had to watch a video ad to claim the reward. It is a very simple process, and if you walk a lot every day, you will earn a decent number of coins.
Daily tasksSmall bonus
Daily tasks are things you do in the app. They are fairly limited, so the coins are quite small. Think of them as a bonus for being an active member.
Playing gamesLow compared to other apps
Go to the Play section. Avoid the games that look spammy, and click the offerwalls like PlayTime or Torox for legit games.
Pick a game, allow the app to track data usage, and install the game. Always open the game from WalkTask, so the app can track your progress. Each game has a set of tasks, usually reaching a milestone or level. You get the reward for every task you complete; you do not have to complete them all.
Based on my testing, there is a decent number of games, and most are fun to play. But the rewards are quite low compared to other apps and sites with the same type of earning opportunity.
Referral program20 to 150 coins
Share your referral code. When someone installs the app and enters your code, you get a random 20 to 150 coins. You also get 1 to 30 coins per day when your referral logs in, up to their seventh day.
In my opinion, random rewards make it a less-than-ideal referral program. Most referral programs pay a commission on what your referral earns, or a fixed amount.

How much can you make?
It mostly depends on how many steps you take per day and how much time you are willing to invest in the app.
If you rely only on walking, it will take quite a long time to collect a significant number of coins. To earn more, you also have to play the games and complete the daily tasks.
I can’t give you an exact amount for the games, but compared to other sites and apps with the same earning opportunities, they pay a bit less. That is why I would say its earning potential is low.
Payout methods and minimum
| Method | Minimum |
|---|---|
| PayPal | 3,000 coins ($5) |
| Gift cards | Depends on the card |
It is a simple payout system, and I like that it offers a convenient payout method like PayPal. For more sites with this method, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.
How to join WalkTask
WalkTask is a mobile-only app for Android and iOS. Install it, open it, and sign in with your Google or Facebook account, or your Apple ID on iOS. Then you can start earning right away. It is a fairly easy process, which is probably the best thing about the app, in my opinion.
If you have questions, check the FAQ section inside the app. If you cannot find the answer, click the “Feedback” link in the app and fill out the form.
