COIN App Review 2026: Is It Legit? My Tested Results and Payment Proof

COIN Rating

If you want to earn cryptocurrency, COIN is a decent app to use. You can earn passively but some earning opportunities require a bit of effort to use.

I downloaded the COIN app, tested it and cashed out myself. Below is my payment proof, how geomining and the other earning methods work, what you can redeem, and the limits you should know about before you install it.

Personally Tested Payout Verified Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit passive crypto app, but no cash and high thresholds

You collect tokens just by moving around with your phone. Rewards are crypto and products, never cash, and most need a lot of tokens.

Good for you ifYou want to earn a little crypto passively from your phone and you do not mind being patient.
Skip it ifYou want cash or PayPal, want to redeem quickly, or plan to pay for a subscription without a plan to earn it back.

The short answer

COIN is a legit app. It does what it claims, and I show my payment proof in my video. You collect COIN tokens passively just by bringing your phone with you, and you can earn more with tasks, referrals and HODL rewards.

But there is no cash option. You redeem your tokens for XYO crypto or for products, and most rewards need a lot of tokens, so it takes patience. The app also sells paid subscriptions. Do not upgrade before you have a plan to earn back what you pay.

What I like
  • Offers a passive way of earning
  • The app is user-friendly, with no pop-up ads
  • Available more or less worldwide
  • Extensive knowledge base and support tickets
  • 1,000 coins as a sign-up bonus
What I don’t like
  • Doesn’t offer any cash rewards
  • High payout threshold for some rewards
  • Some rewards are only available in certain countries
  • Bitcoin and Ethereum are no longer available, only XYO
  • Paid subscriptions can cost more than you earn

My experience with the COIN app

I downloaded COIN, tested its earning methods and cashed out, and I have compared it with other apps that offer similar ways to earn. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is the COIN app legit and safe?

Yes, COIN is legit. It does what it claims, and I have been paid. But it also has some limitations you need to consider before you install it.

  • No cash rewards

You redeem your tokens for XYO crypto or for products. To get cash, you have to transfer the crypto to your own wallet or exchange and sell it there.

  • Paid plans can cost you money

Plus costs $24.95 per month and Pro $34.99 per month. Make a solid plan for how to earn back what you pay before you upgrade, or you might end up losing money. Start with the free Basic level.

  • High thresholds for most rewards

Most rewards need a lot of tokens, and devices need hundreds of thousands. If you only use the app sparingly, it takes a long time before you can redeem anything.

  • Features unlock over time

To claim a geodrop, for example the reward for a rewarded task, you first have to geomine at least 30 times. Which tasks you see also depends on your country and on how much you have used the app.

  • The app uses your location

Geomining only works when you allow the app to determine your location. If you have doubts about privacy, read COIN’s terms before you start.

My takeIf you don’t mind earning cryptocurrency instead of cash, then COIN is a decent app to use. I like that you can earn passively from this app. But some earning opportunities require a bit of effort to complete. Nevertheless, earning from this app is relatively easy, which is part of COIN’s appeal.

How you earn on COIN

There are 4 ways to earn. Geomining is the main one. Tap one to read more.

GeominingMain earner, passive
The 4 geomining modes in the COIN app

Geomining is a way to mine digital tokens using your location. You do not need a computer rig like with normal crypto mining, just the app and a mobile internet connection. Allow the app to use your location, choose a mode, and press the Pickaxe button.

There are 4 modes. In Open Exploration, you mine tokens whenever the app sees you are moving, whether you walk, run or drive. In Gamified Travel, you go to certain locations to collect tokens. Physical Exercise counts your steps and detects if you are in a vehicle, so you cannot really cheat. In Mental Exercise, you solve a puzzle at each location.

Rewarded tasksExtra tokens
Rewarded tasks in the COIN app

Short tasks like the paid offers on Get-Paid-To apps: answer surveys, play games or complete offers. Press the Plus button in the app to find them. COIN has kept adding more types of tasks since I first joined.

Read all the steps before you start. A completed task appears as a geodrop, and you can only claim geodrops after you have geomined at least 30 times.

Referral program10% of geomining

Share your invite link. Your referral gets 1,000 COIN tokens, and you earn 10% of the rewards they earn from geomining.

HODL rewardsDaily bonus

Collect rewards, hold them for a while, and claim a bonus in the HODL Rewards section. A countdown shows when you can claim again, so claim it daily to earn the most. You watch a short video ad each time you claim.

How much can you make?

You have to use the app frequently to mine lots of tokens. If you only use it sparingly, it takes quite a long time before you can redeem rewards. Active members unlock more features, and those help you earn more.

COIN has three paid membership levels on top of the free Basic level. Lite costs $7.99 and has fewer features. Plus costs $24.95 per month and gives you features designed to help you earn more. Pro costs $34.99 per month and gives you every feature. The fees are the same now as when I first joined a few years ago.

I recommend you start with the free membership. Upgrade only once you know the strategies to get the most from the app, and only with a plan to earn back what you pay. Overall, the app has decent earning potential, but only if you take full advantage of all its features.

What you can redeem

RewardTokens neededNotes
XYO cryptoDepends on the amountTransfer it to your crypto wallet, for example a Coinbase account
Products and devices, such as an Apple iPad Air or an iPhoneHundreds of thousandsSome products are not available in every country
Bitcoin and EthereumNo longer availableCOIN removed these options
Cash or PayPalNot availableCOIN has no cash option

The payment system is relatively simple, but most rewards need a lot of tokens, so you could say COIN has a high payout threshold. Because you earn passively, that is less of an issue: keep using the app and check after a couple of weeks if you have enough to redeem.

What you see inside the app is what you can redeem in your country. If you prefer to redeem rewards quickly, see the fastest-paying sites.

  1. I am from India. I don’t want surveys because they are disqualifying me many times. Guide me to build full time income that pays me $1000 dollars per month.

  3. I need an answer as to why – after investing a couple hundred dollars while on a very limited and very fixed income – not one, but BOTH of the Sentinelx BLEs I paid over $70 for, refuse to work.

Especially when I know for a FACT that this “malfunction” is being caused not my my phones, and not by the devices themselves, but by the COIN servers themselves, that are intentionally interfering with my phone’s abilities to mine COIN.

To anyone thinking about spending time and resources trying to advance this cryptocurrency: Don’t, because they are the rip-off that many users claim them to be – UNLESS, that is, they remedy my situation, and do it fast since I’ve already invested for too much time and effort into their “dream,” which is slowly becoming my “nightmare.”

If they do remedy this gaping wound to the very fabric of their vision – I will retract this statement – but not until.

  5. Sounds more like a sales pitch than a review. So what do they do with the data the users provide? How do they earn their money? Do they sell the data? How privacy secure and safe is this? Do they map and know every move you make?

    • If you take the time to look around my website, you will see that my reviews always are honest and tell both pros and cons. And I am very clear about this not being for everyone. I am just sharing my personal experiences and opinions.

As for how they earn money: They can do this in many ways. One thing is through market research. And they also let you take surveys and offers inside the app and you also earn every time you do this. Also, it is connected to the XYO and by making aware of this crypto through the app, they can also make money. So there are many methods.

As for the privacy, you need to read their terms if you have any doubts.

  6. Hello. Thank you for the information. One thing that I wonder about is why nobody is talking about the surveys that you can do, am I missing something or doing something wrong? I make 20 coins a day running the app but can make a thousand or more coins doing some surveys. I worry that there is a reason nobody is talking about it. I made more coins in 10 minutes than I did in a week otherwise. I’d love to know your thoughts.

    • I am very transparent about the earning potential in the review above. And how much you can earn depend a lot on how you use the app and if you decide to get the device that will help you earn while you drive.

For some, it will be worth getting an upgrade and for others, it will not. I very clearly explain this in the review above.

  8. Hello.

I am new to the world of cryptocurrency. Am I correct in assuming one can earn bitcoin from the COIN app then transfer it to cash independently?

    Thanks.

    Reply
    • To offer a little help, no, at least not directly. You earn coins which are like points, which you can use for entries for prize sweepstakes or exchange them for crypto, or as stated in the page, exchange the coins for physical rewards (items). They currently offer XYO (their own token on the ETH network), ETH (Ethereum), and BTC (Bitcoin). Regarding your question of “trade it to cash independently”, no, like any other crypto (coin or token), you need to trade (exchange) it in a Crypto Exchange for fiat (cash – USD, etc.).

I have been a Coin App user for a couple months and work remote so limited commuting but I accumulate coins both from being home and letting the app run in the background, as well as when I am on the road.
