Fitness apps will not pay you much, so see the rewards as a bonus that keeps you motivated to exercise, not as a way to earn. Below I show how you earn on each app, when you can cash out and how it pays, because some ask you to bet your own money.

Now that you know what to expect from these fitness apps, it’s time we talk about the actual apps you can choose from. I have personally tested the apps on this list, so I can say without a doubt that they are legit and worth it.
Just keep in mind that this list is not prioritized according to which one is better. It will still all depend on your preferences when you pick an app to use.
I will keep updating this list if I find new apps that are worth it, so make sure to bookmark this page and check on it from time to time for new options.

You will then earn a certain number of coins for every 1,000 steps you take. You can earn a maximum of 100 coins per day depending on your membership. Then, you can use the coins you’ve earned for various in-app purchases.
Some of the items you can purchase are fitness watches or discount offers from certain stores. The number of coins needed to redeem rewards will vary depending on the available products or offers. But, if you want to earn cash, you will have to participate in their referral program.

To win their challenges, you have to reach your target weight by the deadline, so you’ll have to work out and follow a diet to reach your goal. If you are able to meet the requirements of the challenge, you will win the bet.
The app uses PayPal as their payment method and they will immediately pay you once the challenge is over, so you don’t have to reach a threshold to withdraw your earnings. You can also get paid via check which will be sent to you via postal mail.

DietBet is another fitness app that will involve some form of gambling. As the name of the app suggests, you actually have to place a bet when you play one of their weight-loss games.
When you join a game, you will have to bet a certain amount. The goal is to lose 10% of your body weight and the game will last for six months. You’ll have to do monthly check-ins so that DietBet can track your progress. At the end of the game, if you were able to lose the target percentage of body weight, you will win the bet.
You will then get paid via PayPal and you will receive it immediately since the app doesn’t have a payout threshold you need to reach. You can also choose to get paid via check which will be sent to you via postal mail. If you choose this method, DietBet will charge $5 for the mailing fee.
#5 StepBet

- How you earn
- Bet on your step goals in a game of usually 6 weeks · fitness tracker
- Cash out from
- None1 point = $1
- Paid via
- PayPal
StepBet is a fitness app that will allow you to earn by betting on yourself. To earn from this app, you have to place a bet when you participate in a game. The game usually lasts 6 weeks and in order to win, you have to use a fitness tracker like Fitbit, Garmin, Google Fit, or S Health.
To win their fitness games, you have to take a certain number of steps. That means you have to walk or run while using your fitness tracker of choice. The pedometer of your fitness tracker will forward the number of steps you have taken for every week you have participated in the game.
Aside from the overall goal of the game, you also have to meet the weekly goals set by StepBet. If you are able to meet your goal at the end of the game, you will earn the reward which will be taken from the game’s pot money. The pot money will be split in to the total number of participants who meet the overall goal minus StepBet’s cut which will be 15% of the pot money.
The reward you will receive will be points, but you can exchange them to cash via PayPal (1 point = $1) and you don’t need to reach a threshold to withdraw your winnings.
#6 Achievement (Evidation)

- How you earn
- Walking, meditating, logging meals, answering questions
- Cash out from
- $10for PayPal (10,000 points)

Achievement is a Get-Paid-To (GPT) app that will reward you for staying fit and healthy. It has recently changed its name to Evidation, but it’s still the same app. You will get paid to do activities such as walking, meditating, logging meals, and answering questions about yourself.
You will earn points for every earning opportunity you participate in. Then, you can convert the points to cash via PayPal. The threshold for this payment option is $10 which will be worth 10,000 points. You can also choose to convert your points to various gift cards or a prepaid Visa card.
This app offers more flexibility in terms of how you can earn compared to the other apps on this list.
#7 RunTopia

TimiFiT is another fitness app that will allow you to track your workout’s progress and receive rewards at the same time. You can also earn rewards by answering surveys.
The rewards you will earn can be converted to their own cryptocurrency called FIT token, which has real monetary value. Just be aware that the value will fluctuate since it is a cryptocurrency.
It is available globally and the app is compatible with Android. It used to have an iOS version, but it is not available anymore.
#9 Strava

- How you earn
- Win challenges sponsored by fitness brands · no guarantee
- Cash out from
- Prizes onlygift cards when you win a challenge
- Paid via
- Gift cards
Strava is a fitness app designed to aid you in tracking your fitness activities. It is mainly designed for athletes, specifically runners and cyclists, but it can also be used for other physical activities like swimming. To earn rewards, you must participate and win in any of the challenges it offers.
It’s not a guaranteed way to earn, but the prize for winning will usually be a sizeable amount, so you will really be motivated to do your best, which is what makes it a good option, in my opinion. It is available globally, and the app works on both Android and iOS devices.
What can you earn from these apps?
Don’t expect to get rich from these apps. What you earn will not compare to what you can earn from a full-time job, or even from other online rewards sites and apps.
Your main goal: fitness
These apps are a tool to help you reach your fitness goals. The fact that you earn something when you work out can go a long way in keeping you motivated.
The rewards: a bonus
Think of what you earn as a bonus, not the main reason to use the app. That way, you will not be disappointed.
Just want to earn?
There are plenty of other ways to do that. Check out the top survey and GPT sites in your country. Then you do not have to drop a sweat to earn a decent amount.
Two kinds of fitness apps
Earn as you move
Sweatcoin, WeWard, RunTopia, Achievement (Evidation) and TimiFiT reward your steps, workouts or healthy habits. Strava lets you win prizes in challenges.
Bet on yourself
HealthyWage, DietBet and StepBet ask you to bet money on reaching a weight or step goal. If you meet the goal, you win. If you are not a gambling man, these are not a good fit.
All of them require dedication
Pick the apps that fit your preferences. Whichever you choose, you only get the most out of it if you stay dedicated.
How I choose the sites on this list

I only put a site on this list when I have tested it myself. I test hundreds of sites every year, and I keep this list updated.
What I look at
- I have tested it myself
- Legit and free to download
- Rewards you for exercising or healthy habits
- Helps you stay motivated
Ready to start?
All of these apps are free to download, but HealthyWage, DietBet and StepBet ask you to bet your own money. Just pick the apps that fit your preferences, and keep in mind that all of them require dedication.
I keep this list updated, so bookmark this page. Know a site that belongs here, or have a question? Leave a comment below.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get paid to workout?
Yes, a little. Apps like Sweatcoin, WeWard and RunTopia reward you for your steps, and Achievement (Evidation) pays points for walking, meditating and logging meals.
Don’t expect to get rich. Think of the rewards as a bonus, not the main reason to use the app.
Which app gives real money for walking?
WeWard lets you convert your Wards to cash and withdraw via PayPal, bank transfer or Venmo (US only). Achievement (Evidation) pays via PayPal from $10.
On Sweatcoin, you spend your coins on products and discounts. You only get PayPal cash through its referral program.
How can I make money through fitness?
Besides step apps, HealthyWage, DietBet and StepBet let you bet on yourself. You bet an amount on reaching a weight or step goal, and if you meet it, you win money from the pot, paid via PayPal.
You have to bet your own money, so it is a form of gambling. Strava is different: you can win prizes, usually gift cards, in sponsored challenges, but there is no guarantee.
How much can you make walking?
Not much. What you earn will not compare to a full-time job, or even to other rewards sites and apps. WeWard, for example, gives at most 25 Wards a day for walking.
If you mainly want to earn, see the top survey and GPT sites in your country. Then you do not have to drop a sweat to earn a decent amount.
Is there a 100% free fitness app?
Sweatcoin, WeWard, RunTopia, Achievement (Evidation), TimiFiT and Strava are free to download. Some offer a premium membership, but you can earn without it.
HealthyWage, DietBet and StepBet are different: to earn, you have to bet money when you join a challenge or game.
