I checked out Testlio to see if testing websites and apps there is worth your time. It is legit and pays well per hour, but you must pass a certification test, and testing work is hard to land. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend instead.
Legit and well paid, but only for skilled testers
Hourly pay by country tier and automatic weekly payouts. You must pass a certification test, and testing work is hard to land.

The short answer
Testlio is legit. It is a user testing platform that pays you by the hour to test websites and mobile apps, and it sends your earnings automatically every week.
But it is not for everyone. You must pass a certification test to earn, and you cannot retake it if you fail. Even then, it is tough to get accepted into a testing workspace. I only recommend it if you are confident in your testing skills.
- Available worldwide
- Offers convenient payout methods: PayPal or Payoneer
- Processes payments automatically every week
- Hourly rates above the market range, from what I have observed
- The member dashboard works well on mobile
- You must pass the certification test to become a tester
- Limited earning opportunities
- It is tough to get accepted into a testing workspace
- Lower hourly rates in lower-tier countries
- No mobile app

Is Testlio legit and safe?
Yes, Testlio is legit. But the fact that it is legit does not necessarily make it a site worth joining. Here is what you should know before you sign up.
- One certification test decides everything
After you register, you take the Functional Regression Testing certification test. If you fail, you cannot retake it, and you cannot participate in any testing opportunity. Take this test seriously.
- Testing work is hard to land
There are a decent number of testing opportunities, but from what I have observed, it is tough to get accepted into a workspace. Your best chance is an invite to a testing workspace, and you have no control over that.
- Your country decides your rate
Testlio has a tier list of countries. In tier 1 countries, the rate is $18 to $35 per hour. In the lowest-tier countries, it is $10 to $20 per hour, so there is a huge gap.
- It is real teamwork
As a tester, you find issues and bugs, give feedback on your tests and collaborate with the members of the testing team. It is not a one-man show. If you are not prepared to do that, this is not for you.
My takeIn my opinion, Testlio is a good user testing site to earn extra cash. However, it is not for everyone, because they only accept those who have the skills to perform the tests required. That is why I only recommend you go for it if you are confident with your testing skills. Otherwise, you are better off finding easier ways to earn extra cash.
Testlio only accepts skilled testers. These sites let you start earning without a certification test.
See the best sites in your countryHow you earn on Testlio
There is only one way to earn: testing websites and mobile apps. You get access to testing work in two ways.
Invites to testing workspacesPaid by the hour
Testlio can invite you to join a testing workspace. You receive invites based on your profile, devices, certifications and listed working preferences.
Once you have joined a workspace, the testing team lead assigns you testing tasks. You only get tasks where you have certifications. Testlio is very particular about who can test what, so pass as many certification tests as you can to get access to more testing opportunities.
As a tester, your goal is to identify issues and bugs, give feedback on your tests and collaborate with the members of the testing team. When you finish a task, the team lead reviews it. If everything is in order, your work is approved and the amount is credited to your Testlio account balance.
The Work Opportunities boardApply and wait
You find active work opportunities under the “Find work” tab in the member dashboard. Click one to see its requirements, such as the location or device, and the testing type needed for the workspace.
If you are confident that you can do what it asks, click Apply and follow the instructions. Most of the time, you fill out a form and answer a few questions.
Then you wait for the work opportunity to close. If you are accepted, you are added to the workspace. If not, you receive a rejection email for that work opportunity.

How much can you make?
It depends on the country you live in and on how many testing opportunities you get. Testlio has a tier list of countries, and your rate depends on your tier. In tier 1 countries, the rate is $18 to $35 per hour. In the lowest-tier countries, it is $10 to $20 per hour.
You usually start at the lowest rate for your country. If you perform well on your tasks, Testlio increases your rate within your tier’s range. So always do your best when you perform a testing task.
You have no control over how many opportunities you get. The best thing you can do is take as many certification tests as possible, to increase your chances of an invite to a testing workspace.
Overall, I would say its earning potential is quite decent, since its rates are above the market range, from what I have observed. It is just not easy to land testing opportunities, so you have to be very patient.
How you get paid
| Method | Schedule |
|---|---|
| PayPal | Automatic, at the end of every week in which you earned something |
| Payoneer | Automatic, at the end of every week in which you earned something |
You are paid by the hour while you work on testing tasks. Testlio processes payments automatically every week, so you do not have to request a payout.
Overall, I would say its payout system is quite straightforward, and I like that it offers convenient payout methods like Payoneer. For more sites with this method, see the top sites that pay via Payoneer.
Who can join Testlio?
Testlio is available globally, so you can sign up as a tester anywhere in the world. But becoming a tester is not as easy as you might think.
You register as a freelancer. Then you take the certification test called Functional Regression Testing. It evaluates your testing skills, so Testlio knows if you are qualified for its testing opportunities. If you fail, you cannot retake it, and you cannot participate in any testing opportunity.
Testlio has no mobile app, but its member dashboard is optimized for mobile use. That matters, because you also test mobile apps, so you will need to use a mobile device from time to time.
If you have questions, check the Help Center after you log in. If you cannot find the answer, use the contact form on the website. You can also talk to your team lead about any testing concerns.
