Media Rewards Review 2026: Is It Legit? My Test Results and Verdict

Media Rewards Rating

Media Rewards is an easy way to potentially win very big prizes. But you need to join with the right expectations, and it is not necessarily the right option for all, and you need to know that there is no guarantee you will earn.

Media Rewards promises to reward you simply for watching TV and listening to the radio. I tested the app to see if it is legit and worth using. Below is how it works, how you can win, what readers report, and which apps I recommend if you want guaranteed rewards.

Partially Tested Last tested

Legit, but it works like a prize draw

Leave the app running and you get a chance to win cash prizes. Only the rare surveys pay for sure.

Good for you ifYou live in a country where it works, and you want an effortless chance to win a prize next to your other apps.
Skip it ifYou want a regular or guaranteed amount of cash. Using the app does not guarantee you earn anything.

The short answer

Media Rewards is legit. It is NOT fake, even though it might sound too good to be true. You install the app, leave it running, and it measures which TV, YouTube and radio ads you are exposed to.

But using the app does not lead to guaranteed earnings. Your points enter you into monthly prize draws, so you have to be lucky to win. The only guaranteed rewards come from surveys, and you will very rarely get those. It is not for everyone.

What I like
  • A very easy and effortless way to possibly earn rewards
  • Chance to win very high prizes
  • You always qualify for the surveys you are offered
  • Uses only 1% of your battery and less than 100 kB of data per day
What I don’t like
  • The app does not guarantee you will earn anything
  • Limited earning opportunities: surveys are rare
  • Only available in 6 countries
  • Invite-only, with a limited number of new members each month
  • It listens to the audio around your device, which feels invasive

My experience with Media Rewards

I installed the Media Rewards app and looked at how it works, how you join and how you win. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is Media Rewards legit and safe?

Yes, Media Rewards is legit, and it pays when you win. But you need to understand how it works before you install it.

  • It works like a prize draw

Your points only give you a chance to win cash prizes. There is no guarantee you will win, and you would have to consider yourself very lucky if you do.

  • Surveys are rare

Surveys are the only guaranteed rewards, but they do not happen very often. Depending on your points or rank, it can take up to 8 weeks before you get your first one. Several readers told me they had not received any surveys after months.

  • The app listens to the audio around you

It monitors the audio frequencies around your device to identify the ads you are exposed to. Media Rewards promises it does not gather sensitive information or record or store audio, and that the app is 100% privacy-safe. Readers reported that other apps could not use the microphone while Media Rewards was running.

  • Some winners waited for their prize

A few readers told me they won but had not received their prize yet. It can take some time. If it keeps not arriving, contact their support.

  • Invite-only, in 6 countries

It is only available in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India and Mexico, and you must be invited. Media Rewards only accepts a limited number of new members every month.

My takeMedia Rewards gives you the chance to win a significant amount by basically doing nothing. And when you get surveys, they do pay quite well for your time. But using the app does not lead to guaranteed earnings, so you need to know exactly what to expect. I would say it is not for everyone.

How you earn on Media Rewards

There are 2 ways to earn. The app enters you into prize draws; only surveys pay for sure. Tap one to read more.

Letting the app runPrize draws
Media Rewards app

Install the app and let it do all the work. It measures your exposure to TV, YouTube and radio ads by monitoring the audio frequencies around your device, and it anonymously identifies the ads. You do not have to use it actively: press the home button and it keeps running in the background.

The more you leave it running, the better your score. Your points set your score for the month, and at the end of the month, your score decides which prize draw you enter. Winners are announced through an app message on the 16th of the following month.

Brand surveysAround £5-£10 gift cards

Once you have earned enough points, you can be invited to brand surveys from time to time. They measure whether a TV or radio campaign you were exposed to changed how you feel about a brand.

There is no screening: you automatically qualify for any survey you are offered, as long as it has not expired. You get a push notification from the app when a survey is available. Depending on your points or rank, it can take up to 8 weeks before you get your first one.

How much can you make?

Technically speaking, you are not guaranteed to earn cash from it. The only guaranteed rewards are gift cards from surveys, usually worth around £5-£10, and those will not happen very often.

With the app, you get a chance to win cash prizes. The prizes range from £50 to £1,000 or $50 to $1,000, depending on your country, and they can change from month to month. That is a significant amount, but there is no guarantee you will win.

So in terms of earning potential, it is very low unless you are very lucky. If you want more apps that earn in the background, see the top passive income apps.

How you get paid

RewardHow you get itSpeed
Prize draw win: $50 to $1,000 or £50 to £1,000You are told how to claim it. Media Rewards pays in gift cards; PayPal is not available right now.Winners are announced on the 16th of the following month
Survey gift card: around £5-£10By email. The survey invite usually says which gift card.Up to 2 weeks after the survey

There is no payout threshold. At the end of each month, your score decides which prize draw you enter. Media Rewards does not pay you just because you earn points: you have to win.

Media Rewards has removed PayPal for now and pays in gift cards only. If you want PayPal, or a more surefire way of earning, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

What 47 comments told me

This review has 47 comments since November 2021: 25 from readers and 22 replies from me. These are the four things readers mention most.

No surveys and no winnings yet5 comments

Readers ran the app for months without a survey or a win. That is how it works: it is mainly a passive way to take part, and you need to win to earn.

Claiming a prize, or waiting for it5 comments

Readers who won asked how to claim, and some had not received their prize yet. If you win, you are told how to get it. If it does not arrive, contact their support.

PayPal or gift cards4 comments

Prizes used to be paid via PayPal. Media Rewards has now removed PayPal and pays in gift cards only.

Country and invitation3 comments

It is only available in a few countries, and you need an invite to join.

  1. In your review above, you say that Media Rewards will pay via PayPal, once you click the link and enter a paypal address. However, somebody asked a question about Paypal and you told them that Media Rewards does NOT pay via Paypal. This is wrong, because you said they do in your own review. Please confirm.

    • Sorry for the confusion. I mean that they do not pay just because you earn, but IF you are lucky (and you have to be very lucky) to win one of the rewards, it will usually pay via PayPal. But there can be differences in payout methods depending on the country you live in.

  2. Hi, I’ve been ‘on app’ for a while now and to date never received any surveys, or questions or basically ‘anything at all’ other than just a daily % at the points site. My daughter is convinced that something is not at all right and I’m trying to convince her otherwise. I’m a little confused and also slightly concerned so I’d really appreciate if you were able to help put my mind at rest as I’m beginning to think I’m being ‘duped’ (as embarrassed as I am to say so). Thankyou

Also, be aware that it does not offer guaranteed earnings as you need to win to earn. I explain all this in the review above – that can help you nderstand how it works and if it is for you or not.

  3. Hi Mikael. I was wondering if it is possible to let multiple passive income apps run in the background at the same time or not. For example, can you use Media Rewards alongside Nielsen computer and Mobile panel?

  4. So I’ve had this app for about 2 months and I was pulled out for the prize draw for the £1000 I’ve filled the form in they send to claim it and now it’s just a waiting game.. they said by end of the month.. I still feel this is too good to be true and I won’t actually get the money! But if I do I have plans already on what I’m doing with it!

    • As I explan in the review above, there is no guarantee you will win. It is a lottery, so you have to be lucky to win, but if you do win, it does pay.
