The CashMagnet app no longer works

The CashMagnet app doesn’t work anymore. If you search for it on Google Play, an app with the same name appears, but it is not the app in this review. You cannot earn with CashMagnet now. I keep my review below as a record. The apps I would pick instead are further down.

CashMagnet was an Android app that paid you to let it run in the background while your phone was idle. The app no longer works. I tested it myself before that. Below is what I found, and which apps I would pick instead.

The short answer

The CashMagnet app no longer works. The app with the same name on Google Play is not the one in this review. You can no longer earn with CashMagnet.

When it was running, you could earn by letting it run in the background. But the earnings were very low, it used up a lot of your phone’s resources, and it installed games on your phone. I would never have let my phone do this, because the low earnings would hardly cover the electricity and the wear and tear.

What I like
  • An easy way to earn
  • Paid through PayPal
  • Available globally
What I don’t like
  • The CashMagnet app no longer works
  • Only for Android users
  • Low rewards, especially in the beginning
  • Used up a lot of your phone’s resources
  • You had to install the app manually
  • Poor support

My experience with CashMagnet

I installed CashMagnet, signed up and let it run in passive mode before the app stopped working. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

CashMagnet no longer works. The top sites in your country are still open, and they pay a lot better.

Was CashMagnet legit and safe?

The CashMagnet app no longer works, so you can no longer earn with it. When it was running, you could earn with it, but these were the catches.

  • The app no longer works

The CashMagnet app doesn’t work anymore. The app with the same name on Google Play is a different app.

  • It used up your phone

The app browsed websites and installed games in the background. It needed enough storage and battery, and it made your phone sluggish while it ran. The best way to use it was a phone dedicated to CashMagnet.

  • Very low earnings

Its best users earned around $15 a month, and only if they ran it 24/7 on a rooted phone in a tier 1 country. The low earnings would hardly cover the electricity and the wear and tear of your phone.

  • A misleading earning claim

The website claimed you could earn enough for a new phone in just 2 months. With around $15 a month at best, that was not possible.

  • Poor support

The chat button looked like live chat, but it was just a contact form. I sent a question to test it and did not get an answer.

My takeCashMagnet no longer works, so it is no longer an option. Even when it was running, I would never let my phone do this, because the low earnings could hardly cover the electricity costs and the wear and tear of the phone. See the alternatives below.

How you earned on CashMagnet

There were 2 ways to earn. Passive mode was the main one. Tap one to read more.

Passive modePoints every 5 minutes
CashMagnet passive mode

You opened the app and tapped Start. The timer ran while your phone was idle, and you earned points every 5 minutes. In that time, the app browsed websites, viewed ads, clicked banners and installed games. CashMagnet earned money from sponsors for this and shared it with you.

How long passive mode could run depended on your level. You started at level 1, and you went up and earned extra points the longer you used it. The highest level let it run for 24 hours straight.

From level 3, you could also install games yourself to extend your passive mode time and earn extra points. You did not have to play them, and you could uninstall them once you had claimed the rewards.

Referral program5% on two tiers

You shared your invite link. When someone signed up through it, you received 5% of what they earned in the app.

The program had two tiers: you also earned 5% from the people your referrals invited. I liked that both tiers paid the same percentage.

How much could you make?

It depended on many things: your country, your Android version, how many games you installed, how long CashMagnet ran on your phone, and whether your phone was rooted. So there was no universal answer.

The website claimed you could earn enough for a new phone in just 2 months. But its own FAQ section said the best-performing users earned around $15 a month, and only when they ran the app 24/7 on a rooted phone in a tier 1 country (USA, Canada, UK, etc.). I do not think there is any country where you can get a new phone for $30.

You could run it on more than one device: up to 4 devices at the same time per IP address, and no more than 4 unique devices per day. Still, it took a lot of patience to earn a decent amount.

How CashMagnet paid

You earned points for everything you did in the app and exchanged them for rewards. 1,000 points were worth $1.

MethodMinimumNotes
Amazon gift card1,000 points ($1)Gift card
PayPal5,500 points ($5)The extra points covered the PayPal fees

The reward system was fairly simple, and I liked the low payout threshold. For apps and sites that pay out quickly, see the fastest paying sites.

How I scored CashMagnet

I use the same 100-point system for every platform. See how I test and rate.

Payout reliability and transparency9 / 25

Amazon gift cards from $1 and PayPal from $5, but extra points for PayPal fees. My review does not show a payout.

Earning potential3 / 20

Around $15 a month for the best users, and far from the claim of a new phone in 2 months.

Time efficiency and qualification4 / 15

No work, but your phone was tied up for hours, and earning a decent amount took a lot of patience.

Usability and onboarding3 / 15

Android only, a manual APK install, a sign-up with Google that failed, and a sluggish phone while it ran.

Country availability6 / 10

Available globally, but the earnings depended on your country.

Support, privacy and transparency2 / 10

A good FAQ page, but a chat that was only a form, no answer to my question, and a misleading earning claim.

Unique benefits or limits3 / 5

Up to 4 devices per IP address and a two-tier referral program, but it installed games on your phone.

  1. Cashmagnet is a scam now they removed the amazon gift cards after i reported them to amazon for fraud because when they pay someone through amazon they are supposed to send the physical amazon gift card to the person they are paying so that the person can redeem the code themselves from the back of the gift card and not send the gift card code to them through email because that’s illegal and amazon can sue cashmagnet for violating there TOS and now cashmagnet is on the verge of removing paypal from there site as well because it doesn’t take them a whole month to pay out and now that i have called paypal and reported them they are going to be investigating them for fraud and end up getting there paypal account frozen and permanently banned .
