Tester Work Review – Is it Legit? (Details Explained)

Tester Work Rating

Tester Work is not for everyone. If you are tech savvy and you have quality assurance skills, it can give a bit of extra income. But the salary you get for your time is quite low.

I checked out Tester Work to see if testing mobile apps for it is worth your time. It is legit and pays through PayPal, but the work is demanding and the pay is low for it. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend instead.

Partially Tested Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit app testing, but low pay for demanding work

You test mobile apps and write bug reports. Usually at least $5 per test, with a strict entry test and few projects.

Good for you ifYou are tech-savvy or already work in quality assurance, and want some extra income from it.

The short answer

Tester Work is legit. It pays you to test mobile apps and report the bugs and errors you find. You act as a quality assurance specialist, so you need quality assurance skills to earn.

But the pay is low for the amount of work you need to do. You first have to pass a community test, with only two tries, and the testing projects depend on your location. Tester Work is not for everyone.

What I like
  • Available globally
  • Offers payment via PayPal
  • Low payout threshold of $5
  • A very comprehensive FAQ page
What I don’t like
  • Relatively low compensation for the work that needs to be done
  • Registration is easy, but becoming a tester is a bit more complicated
  • Limited earning opportunities
  • A transaction fee on every payout

My experience with Tester Work

I signed up for Tester Work, went through the community test and looked at the testing projects, the payout settings and the support. This is what I looked at, and what I did not test.

Is Tester Work legit and safe?

Yes, Tester Work is legit. It pays you to test mobile apps and provide feedback. But the next question is whether it is worth joining. Here is what you should know.

  • Only two tries to pass the community test

You must pass the community test to become a tester. If you fail it a second time, you will not receive any testing offers. In my opinion, the test is not very user-friendly, and several aspects of it are not very clear.

  • Low pay for demanding work

You are paid to find crucial errors and bugs, and you have to be very meticulous and follow the guidelines. Usually you earn at least $5 per test, which does not really match the work, in my opinion.

  • No pay if the report breaks the guidelines

Your bug report has to follow the guidelines on the FAQ page. If it does not, you will not get paid. Each test also has a deadline, usually 48 hours.

  • Projects depend on your location

The site is available globally, but testing projects depend on whether Tester Work has clients looking for testers in your country. So there is no guarantee you will be able to earn regularly.

  • Slow payouts with a fee

You are paid around 12 to 14 days after the test cycle has finished, and a transaction fee is deducted, whether you choose PayPal or Upwork.

My takeTester Work is not for everyone. If you are tech-savvy and have quality assurance skills, or if you are already a quality assurance specialist, it can be a good source of extra income. However, the pay you get for the amount of work you need to do is just not good enough, in my opinion. If you are looking for an easier and simpler way to earn, then this is not for you.

How you earn on Tester Work

There is only one way to earn: testing mobile apps.

Testing mobile appsUsually at least $5 per test
Tester Work testing projects

Once you are a tester, you receive emails about new testing projects. You also see the available projects when you log in. Each project shows the location, the type of testing, the device you need and any special requirements. Click “Apply Now” to see the rest of the instructions.

There are two types of tests. In functional tests, you follow specific test scripts and/or functional specifications. In functional exploratory tests, you explore the app based on your own experience and background in testing.

You can do the test at any time, but there is a deadline, usually 48 hours. Then you submit your bug report, following the guidelines on the FAQ page. If everything is in order, you are paid after the project is over.

How much can you make?

You will usually earn at least $5 for every test you complete. Some tests are worth more. But do not be surprised if a test is worth less than $5, because some tests will not ask you to do a lot.

The work is not that simple. It can take quite a bit of time, because you have to be very meticulous and follow the guidelines. It is not like other product testing sites where you just try the product and give a short report. Quality assurance specialists have good salaries, so in my opinion, the compensation does not really match the work.

That is why I would say the earning potential is not that good, if you consider the type of work you need to do.

Payout methods, minimum and speed

MethodMinimumSpeed
PayPal$5Around 12 to 14 days after the test cycle
Upwork contract$5Around 12 to 14 days after the test cycle

If your payment is lower than the $5 threshold, the transfer is done once you reach it. A transaction fee is deducted from every payout, whether you choose PayPal or Upwork, so do not expect to receive the full amount.

I prefer PayPal because it is more convenient. For more sites with this method, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

How to become a tester

Fill out the registration form on the homepage and confirm your registration through the email link. Then log in and complete your profile. During your first log-in, you are asked to take the community test.

The first part of the test is like a tutorial that shows you the terms you need to learn. Read the first two parts carefully, and make sure you understand everything before you start, because you only have two tries.

Tester Work has no app, and it does not really need one. You test apps on your mobile device, and you can check for projects and write your reports on the mobile-friendly site.

  1. I registered with that ‘company’ few days ago, but I was rejected God knows why.
I read all the docs before doing this thing, so I am pretty sure about the answers I provided.
I asked for more information, they refused to provide more information.
They said that I have no other chance to do the test again, but at the same time, they sent me an email to retake it !
What made me react negatively was that they acused me to open another account!
That’s plain simple ridiculous, why should I do that?
Their English command is very poor, lots of mistakes.
There are plenty of companies doing this, there is no need to waste time with people like that.
