SavvyShares has closed
SavvyShares has closed. You cannot join, take its surveys or earn shares there now. I keep my review below as a record of how it worked. The sites I would pick instead are further down.
SavvyShares paid you in company shares, not cash, for surveys and for sharing your browsing data. It has now closed. I tested it myself before that. Below is what I found, and which sites I would pick instead.
SavvyShares has closed
SavvyShares has closed, so you can no longer earn on it. When it was running, it was legit, but it paid in company shares, so it took a long time to see any cash.

The short answer
SavvyShares has closed. You can no longer join or earn shares there.
When it was running, SavvyShares was legit. It was owned by the same company as SurveySavvy. But it paid you in company shares instead of cash, and you only got money when the shares paid dividends, by check in the mail. It was more of a long-term investment of your time than a way to earn extra cash, and there were not many surveys, in my experience.
- Offered a passive way of earning
- The browser extension and mobile app were both user-friendly
- Good support, with a phone hotline
- SavvyShares has closed
- No cash rewards, only company shares
- Not many surveys
- Limited earning opportunities
My experience with SavvyShares
I created a new SavvyShares account to see how it worked, took a look at the surveys, and went through SavvyConnect, the rewards and the support. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

- The SavvyConnect browser extension and app

- The FAQ page and the support options
- A dividend payout. SavvyShares paid in shares, and cash only came when the shares paid dividends.
- Moving an existing SurveySavvy account. I created a new account instead.

Was SavvyShares legit and safe?
SavvyShares has closed, so you can no longer join or earn on it. When it was running, it was legit, because it really gave you the shares it promised. These were the catches.
- It has closed
You can no longer join, take surveys or earn shares on SavvyShares.
- Shares, not cash
You only got money when your shares paid dividends, and then by check in the mail. The value depended on how the company did, with no guarantee.
- SavvyConnect collected your browsing data
SavvyConnect gathered data about your browsing. SavvyShares said no private or sensitive information was collected.
- Moving your SurveySavvy account was final
If you moved your SurveySavvy account, you stopped getting SurveySavvy survey invites, and you could not change it back.
- A reader reports an ID check to cash out
One reader reports that SavvyShares asked for a social security number to cash out. Most reward sites ask for some kind of verification before they pay, to stop fraud.
My takeSavvyShares has closed, so it is no longer an option. Even when it was running, it was not a good fit if you wanted a bit of extra cash, because it took a long time to get any money. See the alternatives below.
How you earned on SavvyShares
There were two ways to earn shares. Tap each one to read more.
Paid surveys4 or 20 shares
You saw the available surveys in your member dashboard and got an email when there were new ones. Each survey started with qualifying questions. If you fit the target group, you answered the full survey and earned shares.
Short surveys paid 4 shares and long surveys 20 shares. Special surveys based on your SavvyConnect data paid twice as much as regular surveys.
Compared to many other survey sites, you did not get a lot of surveys, in my experience.
SavvyConnect20 shares a month per device
SavvyConnect was a browser extension for Chrome, Firefox and Edge, and an app for Android and iOS. It gathered data about your browsing, so you earned passively while you browsed as usual. You could also answer surveys through the extension.
You earned 20 shares a month per device when you used it at least 21 days in a calendar month, with at least 7 days of actual usage data per device, and kept it up to date. You could earn on up to three devices (one computer, one phone and one tablet), so 60 shares a month at most.

How much could you make?
It was hard to say, because you did not earn cash. What your shares were worth depended on how the company did and on the dividends it paid.
You could not predict how many surveys you would get, because invites depended on who the clients wanted to hear from. SavvyConnect was the most steady source of shares, so installing it on three devices was the best way to earn.
If you wanted cash, the earning potential was not good. It was more like the stock market, except that you invested your time instead of money. The payoff could be great, but it could also go the other way.
How SavvyShares paid
You earned company shares, not money. This is how many shares each activity paid.
| Activity | Shares | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Short survey | 4 | After you qualified |
| Long survey | 20 | After you qualified |
| Special survey | Twice a regular survey | Based on your SavvyConnect data |
| SavvyConnect | 20 a month per device | Up to three devices, so 60 a month at most |
When your shares paid dividends, you could choose to receive that money as a check, sent by postal mail. So you had to wait a while for it.

What a reader told me
This review has 4 comments, all from October 2023: 2 from one reader and 2 replies from me.
One reader reports that SavvyShares asked for a social security number to cash out, and that he was not comfortable with that. Most reward sites ask for some kind of verification before they pay.
“To cash out anything over … they want your social security # not many people are comfortable with that me included”
Mikael: Most reward sites will ask for some kind of verification that requires you to share personal info before you can get paid. They have to do this as they get a lot of fraud so if they did not do these checks, they would quickly go out of business.

should have been $10
Thanks for the update.
To cash out anything over $19 they want your social security # not many people are comfortable with that me included
Most reward sites will ask for some kind of verification that requires you to share personal info before you can get paid. They have to do this as they get a lot of fraud so if they did not do these checks, they would quickly go out of business. But you, of course, need to make sure it is a legit site before sharing anything. But if you do not feel comfortable sharing any info, then there are not many online reward sites that will pay you, to be honest.
