Pie Adblock is a Chrome extension that blocks ads and pays you points for the ads it lets through. I tested it. The rewards are low, it takes income away from content creators, and it comes from the same people who made Honey. Below is what I found, and why I stay away from it.
Low rewards, and I stay away from it
An ad blocker that pays points for the ads it approves. PayPal from $10, but low rewards, and it is made by the developers of Honey.

The short answer
Pie Adblock is a real extension with PayPal payouts, but I recommend you avoid it. It blocks ads in Chrome, shows only ads it approves, and pays you points for them. You can also earn cashback with its Pie Shopping extension, and cash out to PayPal from $10.
But the rewards are low, and blocking ads takes income away from content creators and website owners. It is also made by the same developers who made Honey, which has been accused of stealing affiliate commissions.
- Offers payment via PayPal
- Relatively low payout threshold: $10
- Available more or less worldwide
- Low rewards
- It can affect the earnings of content creators and website owners
- Made by the same developers who made Honey
- Lower cashback rates and fewer stores than popular cashback sites
- Chrome on desktop only; the app is for iOS only
My experience with Pie Adblock
I installed the Pie Adblock extension, signed up and looked at Pie Shopping and the payout options. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

The Honey issue on video
Pie Adblock was developed by the same people who made Honey. Honey has been accused of stealing affiliate commissions. It is a very messy issue, and if it is true, there’s a chance the same thing will happen to Pie Adblock, in my opinion. You can watch the full video about this issue below.

Is Pie Adblock legit and safe?
Pie Adblock offers PayPal payouts. But trust is everything with apps like this, and there are things you should know before you install it.
- Made by the developers of Honey
Honey, the original extension of the same developers, has been accused of stealing affiliate commissions. If that is true, there’s a chance the same thing will happen to Pie Adblock. The developers currently do not have a good reputation.
- It cuts creators’ income
Pie Adblock blocks every ad except those from brands that pay it. The creators and website owners whose content you read or watch then earn nothing from those visits. You can allow ads for specific sites, and the extension has had an option to allow ads for YouTube or Twitch channels you subscribe to.
- Low rewards
Pie Adblock does not say how much you earn per ad. Low-effort earning usually pays little, so you need patience.
- Limited devices
The extension only works on Chrome on a laptop or desktop. The app only works on iOS, with Safari. There is no Android version.
My takeThis is why I personally stay away from Pie Adblock. Trust is everything when it comes to apps like this, and the developers currently do not have a good reputation. I also avoid these kinds of earning opportunities because I am one of those who will be affected by them. There are better ways to earn online.
There are better ways to earn online than blocking ads. These sites in your country have good earning potential.

There are 2 ways to earn. Tap one to read more.
Using the browser extensionLow
The extension blocks ads on websites, and Pie says it also blocks ads on YouTube and Twitch. To earn, you allow it to show the ads it approves. You earn points every time one of those ads is shown.
Some ads contain an offer. If you take it, you often earn extra cashback, but only with the Pie Shopping extension installed.
Cashback with Pie ShoppingLower than cashback sites
When you install Pie Adblock, it asks if you also want Pie Shopping. You can skip it and install it later. It applies discounts, coupons and cashback offers automatically at checkout.
Its cashback rates are nowhere close to those of popular cashback sites, and it has fewer partner stores than Rakuten and FatCoupon. So you will not always find an offer you want.
How much can you make?
Pie Adblock does not say how much you earn per ad, so it is hard to tell. Based on my experience, do not expect to earn a significant amount quickly.
If you shop online often and use Pie Shopping, you reach the $10 threshold faster. But there are better ways to earn online, with much better earning potential.
Payout method and minimum
| Method | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | $10 (1,000 points) | The only payout option. Have a verified PayPal account before you sign up. |

What 10 readers told me
This review has 10 comments since 2025: 5 from readers and 5 replies from me. These are the things readers wrote about.
Two readers think ad blocking with Pie is fine and that I am too negative. My reasons are in this review: it cuts creators’ income, and there are better ways to earn.
A reader pointed out that you can turn off the ad blocker for channels you subscribe to, or for sites you want to support. This is now in this review.
A reader said the review opened their eyes.
“at some point the extension did have an option to turn off the adblocker for all YouTube or Twitch channels you’re subscribed to. You can also, of course, turn it off for specific sites that you want to support through allowing ads.”

“It would be horrible if the poor people had a way to made a way to make a few extra pennies to afford all this inflation so they could survive!”
Mikael: If you block ads, the creators will not earn and you will not support the content you like watching and reading. … And with so many other free ways to earn some extra money online, I am saying that why not use those instead…
“Paid ads will get shown, one’s that aren’t are blocked, as it says.”
Mikael: And if you spot any factual errors, you are also welcome to point it out and I will look at it.

Who tested Pie Adblock for this review
If you have any comments, questions, or experience with Pie Adblock, I would love to hear from you in a comment below.
The fact that it’s made by the Honey founder is certainly concerning (and in recent months he’s been telling people that the evidence of Honey being a scam is false/misleading), but I would like to inform you that at some point the extension did have an option to turn off the adblocker for all YouTube or Twitch channels you’re subscribed to. You can also, of course, turn it off for specific sites that you want to support through allowing ads.
Thanks for sharing.
No problem! I also meant to put “add an option” not “have an option” (the option still exists) but I couldn’t edit my comment lol
Thanks for the update:-)
so, basically your saying that you dont like pie because it cuts into your business because people can earn money off it. This will hurt how much you earn. It would be horrible if the poor people had a way to made a way to make a few extra pennies to afford all this inflation so they could survive!
email me! I would love to talk to you about this!
No, that is not what I am saying.
If you had actually taken the time to look around my website and YouTube channel you would see I have helped thousands and thousands of people earn some extra money online with free methods for years.
I am saying that you have to be realistic about why you can get so much free content online. The only reason you can watch YouTube, etc is because the creators can earn. If you block ads, the creators will not earn and you will not support the content you like watching and reading. The alternative will then be you have to start paying for all content online if you are not willing to watch ads as a way to pay for it.
So my points is that for this to be sustainable it needs to consider more aspects and consider how the whole market works.
And with so many other free ways to earn some extra money online, I am saying that why not use those instead unless you are ok with eventually having to pay to read or watch anything online.
Says it has a 1.5-star rating, but the photos show otherwise. You’re just talking down on a business to try to become viral and making a lot of things up to try and do so. Legit 4 sections being about the pay. Dude, thousands of people are saying you’re wrong, me included from our own experience, you’re using other NEGATIVE articles to back your claim because you want it to be a diss article, but you keep parts out as it only blocks ads that are repetitive or have nothing to do with the YouTuber or Celeb. Paid ads will get shown, one’s that aren’t are blocked, as it says. A good number of ads aren’t bought by the people making the videos. Just because they were accused of something, doesn’t make it true. People said that Google stole your data. People will find failures in others to make themselves not feel like one. Too dumb to know you had a bot respond to you too. “Can this ball fits”
I always welcome people sharing their opinion. But please keep it in a proper tone. I am in no way talking down just to get attention. If you had actually watch my videos or read other of my articles, you can see that I always make it clear that these are my experiences and opinions based on more than 8 years of earning online. And I always do my best to be as transparent and honest as possible to help people know what to expect.
As for the rating, it is my rating that I give here on my website. That is usually different than the ratings the websites themselves display on their own websites:-) And I also make it clear that this is my rating and it does not mean everyone else have the same opinion.
If you do not agree, you are more than welcome to share your opinions as long as you keep it in a proper tone. And if you spot any factual errors, you are also welcome to point it out and I will look at it.
I am putting a lot of time and effort into helping people find the best ways for them online and know what to expect, and I hope you can also see this is you take a proper look at my content.
All the best
Wow! This opened up my eye!
Glad it helped.
