I checked out G2 to see if writing software reviews for it is worth your time. It is legit, but the reward is a $10 gift card at G2’s discretion, with no cash and no guarantee. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn extra cash.
Legit, but rewards are not guaranteed and never cash
Write reviews of software you have used. G2 may reward an approved review with a $10 gift card, at its own discretion.

The short answer
G2 is legit. It is a website with reviews of software, to help people find the right software for their business. You can be rewarded for the software reviews you write.
But there is no guarantee you are paid for a review. Whether you are rewarded is at G2’s discretion, and the reward is a $10 gift card, not cash. Readers also report rejected reviews. If you want to earn extra cash, G2 is not a great option.

Is G2 legit and safe?
Yes, G2 is legit. You can really be rewarded for the reviews you write. But that does not make it a good way to earn. Here is what you should know.
- No guaranteed rewards
An accepted review does not automatically mean you get paid. From what I understand, G2 rewards reviews it sees as great reviews that can help a lot of people. So it boils down to how good you are at writing reviews.
- No cash, only a gift card
G2 does not tell you exactly how you will get paid. From what I found out, the reward for an approved review is a gift card worth $10. That is the only compensation G2 offers.
- Readers report rejected and unrewarded reviews
Readers say reviews based on real experience were not approved, and that G2 does not seem to approve many reviews from one person. A reader who had written for G2 since 2020 reported in 2025 that an approved review never got its gift card, and support called it ineligible.
- A business email or LinkedIn is required
To become a reviewer, you sign up with a business email address or your LinkedIn account. A regular Gmail account does not work. G2 wants its reviewers to have a professional profile.
- Hard to do on a phone
The website works on mobile, but writing a good review on a phone is quite challenging. Grammar and spelling matter for approval, so use a laptop or desktop.
My takeIn my opinion, G2 is not for everyone. Its main purpose is to help people find the right software for their business. The reward for reviewers who write high-quality reviews is, in my opinion, just a form of recognition. So I would only recommend you join G2 if your goal is to help people find the right software for their business.
G2 rewards are not guaranteed and never cash. The top survey and GPT sites in your country really pay you.

There is only one way to potentially earn: writing software reviews.
Writing software reviews$10 gift card, not guaranteed
G2 really values actual experience, so you can only review software you have actually used. Go to the G2 site and click “Write Review”. Pick a software category you know, then pick a software you have used.
The first time, you are asked to log in to the member dashboard. After that, you go straight to the review dashboard and fill out all the review fields in the format G2 gives you. A review takes around 10 minutes. Give your honest opinion: it does not matter if it is positive or negative.
Then submit the review for G2 to check. If it passes their standard, it is accepted. But that does not guarantee you get paid. Whether you are rewarded is at G2’s discretion.
How much can you make?
You can potentially earn a $10 gift card per review you write. But G2 is really not a great site to earn from. There is no guarantee you are rewarded for every review, and you are not paid in cash.
G2’s purpose is not to give people a way to earn extra cash. Its goal is to help people find the best software for their business. If you just want your opinion about software to be heard, it is a good place to do it.

Who can join G2?
G2 does not say exactly which countries it is available in, but as far as I can tell, it is available more or less worldwide. You can sign up as a reviewer wherever you live.
To become a reviewer, you use a business email address or your LinkedIn account. A regular Gmail account does not work. G2 wants its contributors to have a professional profile, so the reviews are more credible.
What 4 readers told me
This review has 4 comments since 2023: 3 from readers and 1 reply from me. These are the two things readers wrote about.
Readers say reviews based on real experience were rejected, and that G2 does not seem to approve many reviews from one person.
A long-time reviewer got an approval email in 2025, but the $10 gift card never arrived. Support said the review was ineligible.
“Someone else I know also had only one review approved and the rest rejected. I don’t think they like to approve too many from one person.”

Happened right after we reviewed VS code too 🙁
You may be right about that. I’ve left reviews on their site since at least 2020. Took a break for a while, decided to start again when I received an email promotion from them promising a $10 gift card. Submitted the review, a few days later received an email that it was approved, then waited and waited for a gift card that never arrived. I contacted Customer Service who gave a lame excuse that it was ineligible due to my account info, review history “and other related data.” Despite the fact I’d never had any problems before with my account or reviews, and despite the fact they’d already sent me an email that it was approved. I brought this up to them and asked what exactly in my account data/review history was the problem. The response I got parroted word for word their original response. I even tried to file a complaint to the BBB, which was quickly rejected on spurious grounds. I’m really disappointed because I’d never had problems with them before, but it seems a lot of people have had similar complaints recently.
