Is SurveyDownline a Scam or Legit? (Find Out Before Joining)

SurveyDownline Rating

SurveyDownline is a decent survey site as it offers a convenient payout method and there are plenty of gift cards to choose from. However, the main drawback of this survey panel is that it has low earning potential.

SurveyDownline has closed. You cannot join, take its surveys or earn from your downline there now. I keep my review below as a record of how it worked. The sites I would pick instead are further down.

SurveyDownline paid you for surveys and for the surveys of the people you invited, your “downline”. It has now closed. I looked at it myself before that. Below is what I found, and which sites I would pick instead.

The short answer

SurveyDownline has closed. You can no longer join or earn there.

When it was running, SurveyDownline was a legit survey site that paid through PayPal and gift cards. But it had low earning potential: there were not a lot of surveys, the PayPal minimum was $20, and the site was outdated and not mobile-friendly. It could serve as a decent secondary site, but not more.

What I like
  • Payment via PayPal was available
  • A decent number of gift cards to choose from
What I don’t like
  • SurveyDownline has closed
  • Limited earning opportunities
  • Not a lot of surveys
  • The site was not mobile-friendly
  • The design of the site was outdated

My experience with SurveyDownline

I signed up for SurveyDownline and went through the surveys, the profile, the downline program, the rewards and the support. This is what I looked at myself, and what I did not test.

Was SurveyDownline legit and safe?

SurveyDownline has closed, so you can no longer join or earn on it. When it was running, it was legit, because it paid you for the surveys you completed. These were the catches.

  • It has closed

You can no longer join, take surveys or earn from your downline on SurveyDownline.

  • Not many surveys

Based on feedback from longtime members, there were not a lot of surveys, so you could not expect to earn much.

  • A high PayPal minimum

You needed $20 to withdraw through PayPal, and only in $20 steps. Gift cards started at $10.

  • Outdated and hard to use on a phone

The site looked outdated, had not been updated for years and was not mobile-friendly, so you had to zoom in to read and click.

My takeSurveyDownline has closed, so it is no longer an option. When it was running, it was a decent secondary site at best. See the alternatives below.

How you earned on SurveyDownline

There were two ways to earn. Tap each one to read more.

Paid surveysSet per survey
SurveyDownline profile

After you signed up, you saw the available surveys in the member dashboard. Each survey started with preliminary questions to check if you were in the group the survey was targeting. If you qualified, you took the actual survey. If not, you moved on to the next one.

Your profile decided which surveys you were sent. You did not get a reward for filling it out, but it was the main thing that got you more survey invites.

Downline (referral program)10% of your downline’s survey revenue
SurveyDownline downline program

The people who joined through your link became your downline, a term from multi-level marketing. Every time someone in your downline completed a survey, SurveyDownline paid you 10% of the revenue.

You could share your link through the Facebook and Twitter buttons, or send it to people yourself. It was only worth it if you knew a lot of people who might be interested in joining.

How much could you make?

It depended on how many surveys you completed, and that mostly depended on how many invites you got. Filling out your profile was the main way to get more.

Based on feedback from longtime members, there were not a lot of surveys on SurveyDownline, so you could not expect to earn a lot from it.

How SurveyDownline paid

Each survey you completed added a set amount to your SurveyDownline account.

MethodMinimumNotes
PayPal$20Only in $20 steps
Gift cards$10For example Amazon and Footlocker

You could also donate your earnings to a charity that had partnered with SurveyDownline.

The gift card threshold was relatively low, but the PayPal threshold was quite high. For sites with a lower minimum, see the fastest paying survey sites.

Pay per survey2 comments

One reader says he used SurveyDownline all the time, did several surveys a day, and got a 10-minute survey that paid $14. I replied that this is not what you usually got for a survey there.

“Why do you think that Survey Downline has low earnings! I would not call a 10 min survey that pays $14.00 a low paying survey.”

Reader, November 2021
Mikael: That is NOT what you usually get for a survey there. I have tested hundreds of survey sites and it is just not nearly as good as many other options and I explain what that is, in my opinion, in the review above.

  1. No it is a scam. I use it all the time as it is just one of my survey programs that I use. As of last year I cashed out at over $700.00 but I do anywere from 4 to 6 survays a day as it the only way to make good money with surveys.
