Are SpiderMetrix Surveys Worth it? (SpiderMetrix Review)

SpiderMetrix rating

SpiderMetrix can be a way to earn a bit in some countries. But in many countries, it will be a waste of time, and you will have to spend A LONG time reaching the high payout threshold.

I have been a member of SpiderMetrix since 2017 and have kept coming back to it over several years. Below is how it works, what it pays, the very high payout threshold, and which sites I would pick first.

Personally Tested Last tested

Legit, but a very high threshold and few surveys in most countries

Best chances in Australia. Elsewhere, reaching the 300-point PayPal threshold can take a very long time.

Good for you ifYou live in Australia, get the longer surveys, and do not mind an old-fashioned site.
Skip it ifYou live in a country with few surveys, or you want to cash out quickly.

The short answer

SpiderMetrix is a legit survey site that has been around since 2000. It pays through PayPal and Amazon vouchers.

But the payout threshold is very high: 300 points (around $50). In many countries, there are hardly any of the longer surveys that pay well, so it can take a very long time to get there. In my opinion, the cons outweigh the pros, unless you live in Australia.

What I like
  • Pays out through PayPal
  • Everyone can join
  • Active Facebook page with regular contests
  • Reward and time are shown before you start a survey
  • A good joining bonus of around 24 points
What I don’t like
  • Very high payout threshold
  • Very limited opportunities for most countries
  • A bit confusing to use
  • Old-fashioned design of the website

My experience with SpiderMetrix

I have been a member for years and kept coming back to SpiderMetrix to see how it develops. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is SpiderMetrix legit and safe?

Yes, SpiderMetrix is a legit survey site that has been around for a while. But that does not mean it is worth your time. Here is what you should know before you join.

  • A very high payout threshold

You need 300 points (around $50) before you can cash out. With quickies alone, at 1 point each, there is a very long way to go. Even the longer surveys pay 6 to 18 points, so expect at least 20 of them.

  • Few longer surveys in most countries

The longer surveys that pay better depend on where you live. I have hardly been offered any where I live, even though I have been a member for a long time. Members I have been in contact with say you have the best chances in Australia.

  • An outdated, confusing design

The design has not changed in more than 7 years. It is not super difficult to use, but you have to click around a bit to get familiar with it.

  • Hard to use on a small screen

There is no app, and the website is not very user-friendly on a phone. A computer or tablet works better.

  • Point value can differ by country

The value of points can differ depending on the country you live in. Check what 300 points are worth in your account before you spend time on surveys.

My takeSpiderMetrix has some good aspects, but in my opinion, the cons outweigh the pros. It depends a lot on where you live. For many countries, it can take a lot of time to reach a payout threshold this high, given the limited opportunities on the site. SpiderMetrix is honest about it: its website says, “This is for fun! You will not get rich overnight, and please do not give up your day job”.

How you earn on SpiderMetrix

Surveys are more or less the only way to make money. There are 4 other small extras. Tap one to read more.

Surveys and quickiesMain earner
Examples of SpiderMetrix surveys with reward and time

There are two kinds. Normal surveys take 15-20 minutes on average and pay 6 to 18 points. Quickies usually have 1-2 questions, take less than 1 minute and pay 1 point.

You see the reward and the approximate time before you start. Everyone can do the quickies, and they are available throughout the day, but you have to log in to see them. The normal surveys are not always available and depend on where you live. You are often invited by email, but it is still a good idea to log in and check once in a while.

Facebook contestsAround 10 points
A contest on the SpiderMetrix Facebook page

At the time of updating my review, SpiderMetrix had a weekly contest on its Facebook page, often where you write a title for a photo. 3 random winners usually get 10 points each, around 1.7 Australian dollars. Contests inside the platform itself are very rare.

AuctionsLuck only
A SpiderMetrix auction

I have not seen this on any other survey site. You bid your points on an Amazon gift card or PayPal cash, and the highest bid wins. No points are deducted if you do not win. From what I have seen, it is difficult to make a good deal, but it is possible if you are lucky.

Referral program1 point each

Every time a person you invited completes a longer survey, you get 1 SpiderPoint, worth around 17 cents of an Australian dollar. Not a lot, unless you know many people who want to join.

SpiderpanelNo reward

A panel of the most active members that gives feedback before SpiderMetrix rolls out changes. Nowhere on the site does it say you get extra rewards for it.

How much can you make?

No matter where you live, SpiderMetrix will not make you a lot of money. The longer surveys are the main way to earn. If they are not available where you live, you will have a hard time making any real money.

The longer surveys pay 6 to 18 points each, so even with high-paying ones, you should expect to do at least 20 surveys to reach the threshold. You can make a little extra on the side, but do not expect more than that.

Payout methods and minimum

MethodMinimumNotes
PayPal300 points (around $50)Cash to your PayPal account
Amazon voucher300 points (around $50)Gift card
AuctionsYour bidBid points on an Amazon gift card or PayPal cash

1 point is around 17 cents of an Australian dollar, and the value can differ by country. You can also donate your points to charity. The threshold is very high compared to most other survey sites, and it is the aspect of SpiderMetrix I like the least.

If you want sites that pay through PayPal with a lower threshold, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

Is SpiderMetrix worth it in your country?

Anyone aged 14 or older can join from any country, but in many countries there are few opportunities. Pick your country to see where SpiderMetrix stands on my list of the best sites there.

  2. Hi, Mikael
In my spidermetrix account they are giving only $30 for 300 points.

And is there any survey sites in which we did not need to qualify for surveys.

  3. Well, SpiderMetrix is one big scam. One day I’m on there doing their surveys. I had earned just about enough for payout & now it seems like they went out of business. Just like that. No notice or anything.

    • Sorry to hear that Zentura. But thanks for letting me know. I just checked, and it seems that SpiderMetrix is also not working from my location. Sometimes a site does however just crash temporarily and then starts working again a few hours later, so maybe the site will start working again soon, so you can get your money.

The reason I think there is a good chance it will start working again is that they just posted something on their Facebook page a few hours ago, and there is no info about them being out of business. So let’s hope it will be back up again soon.

I will keep an eye on it, and feel free to let me know how it goes with your payout.

      All the best,
      Mikael

  4. I want to make at least $20 per day. Will it by becoming a member of spidermetrix be possible to do enough surveys that will enable me to earn $20 per day? Also, is there a limited amount of surveys available to each members everyday? This could be another alternative for how I spend my free time instead of playing computer games, I most likely spend it on something more meaningful. Thanks a lot!

    • On SpiderMetrix alone, it will not be possible to make $20. As mentioned in the review, many countries have very limited access to surveys on Spidermetrix. There is not as such a limited amount of surveys you can take per day. You can take all the ones that are available. But in many countries there are just very many available (if any).

Several other sites give better earning opportunities, and to make $20, you would need to join several of them (you can see my top survey sites here). But yes, I agree that making some extra money on surveys and other activities on the survey website can be a great way to spend some time instead of in front of the TV or Computer:-)

      All the best,
      Mikael
