I joined Recruit and Field and tested it myself. It is a legit market research company that pays decently per activity, but the opportunities are limited. Below is what I found, what readers report, and which sites I recommend if you want to earn more regularly.
Legit, but too few opportunities to be your main site
Surveys, interviews and focus groups paid through PayPal with no threshold. Few invites, and only in the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

The short answer
Recruit and Field is legit. It is a market research company that will really pay you to take part in its research activities: mostly online surveys, and sometimes interviews and focus groups.
It pays a decent amount, usually through PayPal and with no payout threshold. But the earning opportunities are quite limited, so it is not a good primary site to earn from. It can be a decent secondary site if you set your expectations properly. Some readers report focus groups that were cancelled at the last minute and payments that did not arrive.
- Offers payment via PayPal
- No payout threshold
- Pays a decent amount per activity
- Interviews and focus groups can pay $100 or more
- Limited earning opportunities
- The site lacks relevant information about the earning opportunities
- No FAQ page for members
- Only available in 5 countries
- Some readers report cancelled sessions and late or missing payments

Is Recruit and Field legit and safe?
Yes, Recruit and Field is legit, because it will really pay you for taking part in its research activities. But it has some limitations you will want to consider.
- Few earning opportunities
Online surveys are by far the most common activity. Do not expect to get invited to interviews or focus groups often. During my testing, I never got one. And you will not always qualify for the surveys you are invited to.
- Readers report cancelled sessions and late payments
In 2022 and 2023, three readers wrote about problems: a focus group cancelled 10 minutes before the start without pay, a cancelled session that was promised full pay but not paid after more than three weeks, and an in-person study not yet paid after more than two weeks. Another reader wrote that she has always been paid promptly.
- Little information for members
The website is mostly geared towards getting clients. There is a landing page for people who want to earn, but no FAQ page for the earning opportunities.
- No dashboard, so check your email
There is no member dashboard. Invites come by email with what you need to do and the reward. Check your inbox regularly so you do not miss any opportunities.
My takeRecruit and Field, in my opinion, isn’t a bad site to earn from. But it’s not a good primary site, because the earning opportunities are quite limited. They pay a decent amount, but that won’t matter if you don’t get to earn frequently. It can serve as a decent secondary site, provided you set your expectations properly.
Recruit and Field has few opportunities. These sites let you earn more regularly where you live.

There is one way to earn: research activities. Surveys are by far the most common. Tap one to read more.
Online surveysAround $5 to $10
If you qualify for a research activity, you get an email invite with what you need to do and the reward you can earn. Online surveys are by far the most common activity, and the bulk of your earnings will come from them. You will not always qualify for the surveys you are invited to.
Interviews and focus groupsAround $100 or more
Recruit and Field also runs telephone interviews, shop-along interviews, face-to-face interviews, webcam interviews, and online and in-person focus groups. The activities that take more effort and time usually pay around $100 or more.
These are few and far between. I never got invited to one during my testing.
Opportunities on the websiteApply now
You can also be more proactive and check the website, where Recruit and Field posts research opportunities. This was not the case when I first tested the site. Click “Apply Now” and answer the pre-qualifying survey. If you qualify, you get the instructions to complete the study.
In my opinion, the email invites are still your best chance of earning from this site.

How much can you make?
It mostly depends on how often you can take part. The site pays a decent amount: around $5 to $10, and around $100 or more for activities that take more effort and time.
But those bigger activities are few and far between, so the bulk of your earnings will come from paid surveys, and you will not always qualify for them. Even though the site pays well, the earning potential is not that good because of how few opportunities there are.
You won’t get rich from the site, and you won’t get to earn regularly. But if you get invited to a more complex activity, you can earn decent money.
How you get paid
| Method | Minimum | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | None | Most of the time. The site asks for your PayPal address during the payment phase. |
| E-gift cards | None | Sometimes, depending on the research activity |
According to the site, you typically get paid right after you complete a research activity, and you do not have to reach a payout threshold. Some readers had to wait longer: one was told it would take about three weeks for a payment link to arrive by text message.

Who can join, and how
Recruit and Field is only available in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. You also have to be at least 18 years old.
There is a separate registration form for US residents. If you live outside the US, you fill out a Google form that looks almost like a survey. It works like a profile survey: the site uses it to decide which research activities to send you. Once you submit it, you are a verified member.
There is no member dashboard to log in to, so you just check your email and the website for opportunities. Both work well on a phone, and so do the surveys. For online focus groups, a laptop or desktop is more convenient.
For questions, call one of the phone numbers at the bottom of the website, message its Facebook page, or email [email protected]. There is no FAQ page for members.

Who tested Recruit and Field for this review
If you have any comments, questions, or experiences with Recruit and Field, I would love to hear from you in a comment below.
I did an in-depth study on faucets at Home Depot on July 19, 2023 at 9am, it would be 60 minutes. I would get paid $125.00 which as of today August 4, 2023 2 weeks and two days later, I have not been paid. I would not trust them again. And will never do another study in person or otherwise with Recruit and Field.
Have you contacted their support about this? And when did it say in the terms you would get paid for that job? Because some jobs can take a while to approve.
I had one good experience with one of their focus groups and I was paid promptly. The second one, I was signed up for a 3 hour focus group that was to pay $200. It was confirmed 3 times prior to the date, I completed a 15 minute tech check and I signed the NDA. It was to start at 6 am. 10 minutes prior to start, I received a call that I was no longer needed. No pay, nothing. I set aside 3 hours and got ready by 6 am to abruptly be cancelled for no reason at all. I would try other market research companies. Recruit and Field are not very reliable.
Sorry to hear that but thanks for sharing your experiences.
I actually just had the same experience with them. The facilitator advised me just after the session was getting ready to start that I was no longer needed, but would be fully compensated for my time. Ida, the recruit and field liaison said it would take approximately three weeks for payment to be received via a text message link. It has been over three weeks, still no payment. I called today and emailed her, but still have not gotten a reply or call back. A waste of time and energy. I will not be using them again.
I absolutely love this site! I’ve completed a few projects for them, and I have always been promptly paid!
Thanks for sharing your experiences about this.
