Is Merryfield Legit or a Scam? (Real User Review)

Merryfield Rating

Merryfield is not a bad app. It incentivizes you to buy products that are good for your health. But if you are mainly looking for an app you can earn from, then this is not a good option because of the low rewards it offers.

I tested Merryfield, a US receipt-scanning app that rewards you for buying “better-for-you” products. It is legit and easy to use, but the rewards are low and there are no cash rewards. Below is what I found, and which apps I recommend instead.

Personally Tested Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit, but low rewards and no cash

50 points per $1 you spend on partner brands, and gift cards from 5,000 points ($5). US only.

Good for you ifYou live in the US and already buy products from Merryfield’s partner brands.
Skip it ifYou mainly want to earn, you want cash or PayPal, or you live outside the US.

The short answer

Merryfield is legit. You really earn points from the receipts you scan, and it incentivizes you to buy products that are good for your health or the planet.

But the rewards are low: 50 points per $1 you spend, which is only $0.05. You would have to spend thousands of dollars to earn a significant amount, and there are no cash rewards, only gift cards. It only makes sense if you already buy the products it promotes.

What I like
  • The app is user-friendly, without annoying pop-up ads
  • Incentivizes you to buy healthy products
  • Paper and digital receipts both count
  • Helpful FAQ section
What I don’t like
  • Low rewards
  • No cash rewards, only gift cards
  • Only available in the US
  • Receipts must be submitted within 7 days

My experience with Merryfield

I installed Merryfield, scanned receipts and looked at the special offers and rewards. This is what I did myself, and what I did not test.

Is Merryfield legit and safe?

Yes, Merryfield is legit, because you really earn rewards from the receipts you scan. But that does not mean it is worth using. Here is what you should know.

  • Very low rewards

You earn 50 points per $1 you spend on “better-for-you” products. That is only $0.05. You would have to spend thousands of dollars to earn a significant amount.

  • No cash rewards

You can only redeem gift cards. Merryfield does not offer cash or PayPal.

  • Do not shop just for the points

Special offers pay more, but heading out just to buy a product for an offer is counter-productive. Check the offers before you go grocery shopping anyway.

  • Receipts must be clear and recent

Submit receipts within 7 days of the date printed on them. The photo must clearly show the date, time and store location.

My takeIn my opinion, Merryfield is not a bad app. It incentivizes you to buy products that are good for your health. But if you are mainly looking for an app you can earn from, then this is not a good option because of the low rewards it offers. Plus, it doesn’t offer any cash rewards.

Merryfield pays very little, and only in gift cards. These sites in your country pay in cash.

How you earn on Merryfield

There are 2 ways to earn. Both need a receipt. Tap one to read more.

Scanning receipts50 points per $1
How to earn from Merryfield by scanning receipts

Your receipt must include a “better-for-you” product from one of Merryfield’s partner brands. You see all participating brands when you log in. When I tested the app, there were more than 50.

Go to Snap Receipt Photo, take a clear photo with the date, time and store location readable, and hit Finish. Paper and digital receipts both work.

Merryfield reviews your receipt, which in my experience usually takes no more than a day. If it meets the requirements, you get 50 points per $1 spent on “better-for-you” products. Submit receipts within 7 days of the date printed on them.

Special offersMore points
Merryfield special offers

Activate a limited-time offer in the app, buy that product, and submit the receipt before the deadline. You earn significantly more points than with a normal receipt.

The best way to use them is to check the offers before you go grocery shopping. Heading out just to get the product is counter-productive.

How much can you make?

Not a lot. You earn 50 points for every $1 spent on “better-for-you” products, which is worth only $0.05. You would have to spend thousands of dollars to earn a significant amount.

That is why I consider the earning potential very low. If you already buy products from the partner brands, the rewards are a bit of added value.

Merryfield does not offer any cash redemption. Overall, the reward system is relatively straightforward. If you want to earn cash, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

A reader wrote in July 2024 that Merryfield now credits any purchase, not just partner brands, at 25 points per receipt. I have not checked this myself.
