I tested Fetch Rewards to see if scanning your receipts is worth it. It is legit, but it only rewards you in gift cards and only works in the US. Below is what I found, and which apps I recommend if you want to earn cash.
Legit, but only worth it if you already shop at partner brands
Scan any receipt for points and redeem gift cards from $3. US only, and no PayPal.

The short answer
Fetch Rewards is legit. It rewards you with points for scanning your receipts, special offers and referrals, and you redeem the points for gift cards.
But it only makes sense if you already buy the participating brands. It is a way to save a bit on shopping you do anyway, not a way to make a lot of extra money. It is only available in the US, and there is no PayPal or bank transfer.
- Low payout threshold: gift cards from 3,000 points ($3)
- An easy way to earn: you take a photo of your receipt
- You can submit a receipt from any store or restaurant
- The app is user-friendly, on Android and iOS
- Visa rewards give you a way to get paid in cash
- No PayPal or bank transfer
- Only available in the US
- Your first cashout needs $10
- You rarely get the maximum points per product
- Mobile only. The Chrome extension is gone.

Is Fetch Rewards legit and safe?
Yes, Fetch Rewards is legit. It does reward you for its activities. But that does not make it a good way to earn for everyone. Here is what you should know.
- Your earnings depend on what you buy
You earn the most points for products from participating brands. Only buy what you really need. Buying a product just for the points costs you more than you earn.
- Accounts can be closed over receipts
In November 2023, a reader wrote that Fetch Rewards closed their account and removed their points when they tried to redeem gift cards, because it found fraudulent receipts. Only scan your own, real receipts.
- Scans can miss items
In January 2023, a reader wrote that the app left items off a readable receipt and then called the rescan a duplicate. Take a clear photo with the store name in it, and contact support when items are missing.
- No cash through PayPal
You redeem your points for gift cards or Visa rewards. You cannot cash out to PayPal or a bank account.
My takeFetch Rewards can be a useful app if you do the grocery shopping. It is a good way to save a bit of money, because you do not have to do anything special apart from taking photos of your receipts. Just do not expect to earn a lot of cash from it.

There are 3 ways to earn. Scanning receipts is the main one. Tap one to read more.
Scanning receiptsMain earner
Take a photo of your receipt and submit it through the app. The points you get depend on how many items from participating brands are on the receipt. The app shows you the list of participating brands.
You do not have to keep checking the brands. Just buy what you really need, and the rewards come as a bonus. In my opinion, this is the true purpose of the app.
You can submit any receipt, from any store or restaurant. Some other receipt apps only accept certain stores. Submit it within 14 days of the date on the receipt, include the store name in the photo, and make sure the items are readable.
Special offersBonus points
Special offers give you bonus points on top of the regular points for certain products. You see them as soon as you log in.
You do not have to select an offer first. You get the points whether or not you knew about the offer. Again, only buy the product if you really need it.
Referral program2,000 points each
When someone signs up with your referral code and uploads a first receipt that gets approved, you both get 2,000 bonus points ($2). There is no limit to the number of referral bonuses you can earn.
How much can you make?
It depends on your shopping habits. You can earn around 250 to 2,000 points for each product from a participating brand. In my experience, the maximum rarely happens.
The best thing you can do is switch to the participating brands for products you buy regularly. That is the best way to get the most from the app.
You only get gift cards and Visa rewards, not cash to PayPal. It is not a way to make a lot of extra money, but it can give you a bit extra for the shopping you do anyway.
Payout methods and minimum
| Method | Minimum and notes |
|---|---|
| Gift cards: Amazon, Walmart, Target and many more | 3,000 points ($3). $10 the first time you cash out. |
| Visa rewards | A way to get paid in cash |
| Red Cross donation | Donate your points instead of redeeming them |
I like the low payout threshold. It lets you redeem your rewards quickly. But you cannot cash out through PayPal. If you want sites with a low threshold that pay in cash, see the fastest paying sites.

Who tested Fetch Rewards for this review
If you have any comments, questions, or experiences with Fetch Rewards, I would love to hear from you in a comment below.
Fetch Just so you know, I’m like a rabid dog clamping down on something when I feel a company has ripped me off and you ripped me off! So now Ive made it my personal mission to leave your company a terrible review on every platform out there. I’ll also be spreading the word when I’m out and about making conversations with people. Word of mouth is very powerful. Anyone who uses the Fetch app for grocery and shopping rebates, don’t bother!
I have used this app and promoted this app in the past to my family and friends. Hell, I would tell strangers about how great it is. I thought it was a great way to earn rebates on groceries. What I did was accumulate my points throughout the year and then cash out those points in November for my Christmas shopping for my family. Ya know, b/c we’re a one income household trying to get by and I’m resourceful like that. Well, Fetch had other plans. I attempted to redeem two $50 Amazon gift cards a few days ago. Without any warning or communication, my points were stripped and my account was deactivated. Without giving me any type of opportunity to address the confusion, Fetch decides to ban me. The Fetch app coerces people in to buying certain brands of products with the promise of rebate points but does not hold up their end of the bargain. It took 2 days to get a response from them to find out what was going on. I received a generic email stating my account was permanently closed due to fraudulent receipts and they refused to elaborate claiming it would compromise their robust internal procedures. Waste of time! Thanks for ripping me off! Scam! I’m finding out I’m not the only one either. They’ve done it to a lot of people. Shame on you! I’m no where near finished. I told you I have time to put in to this crusade and I’ll always hold up my end of the bargain.
Thanks for sharing your experiences. Just want to clarify that I am not a part of Fetch and have nothing to do with them – I have just tested and reviewed the website. And thry will likely not see your feedback here, just so you are aware. But thanks for sharing so others can see.
I have been having problems when I scan my receipts it leaves 3, 4 or 5 items off. I know the receipts was very readable but it still has been leaving items off the list. I tried to rescan it 4 times but it keeps telling me it’s a duplicate receipt!!!!!! It’s just started doing this about a week ago.
