I looked at how IRI Shopper Panel works, from the registration survey to the app and the rewards. It is legit and easy, but it is only for Australia, and the rewards build up slowly. Below is what I found before you sign up.
Legit and easy, but Australia only and slow to pay off
You earn points by scanning the barcodes of what you buy. Rewards are gift cards and products, and they take patience.

The short answer
IRI Shopper Panel is legit. It is a shopping panel that rewards you for scanning the barcodes of the products you buy, with its app or a handheld scanner. You do not answer surveys or complete offers.
But it is only available for residents of Australia, and it takes a bit of patience to earn. You get gift cards and products, not real money, and gift cards take about 15 business days to arrive.
- Very easy way of earning rewards
- The app is user-friendly
- Great selection of rewards
- You earn by doing your regular shopping
- A $20 Flexi gift card bonus for scanning 6 weeks in a row
- Payment processing is a bit slow
- It takes a bit of patience to earn
- Only available in Australia
- No real money, only gift cards and products
- The contact form is hard to find

Is IRI Shopper Panel legit and safe?
Yes, IRI Shopper Panel is legit. It rewards you for scanning the barcodes of what you buy. But that does not make it the right opportunity for everyone. Here is what you should know before you sign up.
- Only for residents of Australia
If you live outside of Australia, becoming a member is pretty useless. That is the first and foremost requirement.
- Rewards take patience
You receive a certain number of points for every week IRI receives purchasing data from you. It takes a bit of patience before you can redeem a reward, and readers say it is very slow.
- No real money
The closest thing to real money you can earn is gift cards. iChoose Visa Gift Cards come close, because you can use them for online purchases.
- Slow processing
Gift cards usually take 15 business days to be processed and sent out. All other gifts take 4 weeks.
- You need a phone with a camera and internet
The app uses your phone camera to scan barcodes, and you need a stable internet connection to send the data. It does not work on HTC and Windows phones.
My takeWhat I like about IRI Shopper Panel is that you get rewarded for something you usually do, which is to shop. You do not have to make any drastic changes. It is a good online rewards site to join as long as you live in Australia. If you live outside of Australia, I would suggest you check out the top survey apps instead.
How you earn on IRI Shopper Panel
There are 3 ways to earn. Scanning barcodes is the main one. Tap one to read more.
Scanning barcodesMain earner
Download the app and install it on your phone. When you go shopping, open the app and scan the barcodes of the products you buy. You can do this no matter what type of shops you go to. You can also scan products you bought from online stores once you receive your package, and then hit the Transmit button to send the data.
You can also choose to receive a handheld scanner. In my opinion, the app is a lot more convenient, because you likely have your phone on you most of the time.
You receive a certain number of points every week IRI receives purchasing data from you. So if you want to earn points regularly, scan at least weekly. There are no other demands for how often you have to scan.
Scanning bonus$20 Flexi gift card
IRI Shopper Panel gives you a $20 Flexi gift card bonus for scanning barcodes for 6 consecutive weeks. That is a good bonus, in my opinion.
Monthly prize draws$50 and $100 gift cards
Aside from the points, you earn entries into a variety of monthly prize draws where you can win gift cards. You have the chance to win $50 and $100 gift cards. It is luck, so do not count on it.

How much can you make?
If you were expecting to earn real money from IRI Shopper Panel, you will be disappointed. The closest thing to real money you can earn on this app is gift cards. For some, they are as good as real money, especially iChoose Visa Gift Cards, which you can use to pay for online purchases.
You get points for every week you send purchasing data. Plus, you get a $20 Flexi gift card bonus for scanning 6 consecutive weeks, and you can win $50 and $100 gift cards in the prize draws.
Readers who scan every week say it is very slow to build up enough points for a reward. So see it as a small, long-term extra on top of your regular shopping.
Rewards and how you get them
| Reward | Processing time |
|---|---|
| Gift cards, including iChoose Visa Gift Cards | Usually 15 business days |
| Other gifts, such as iPads and activity trackers | 4 weeks |
You use the points you collect to redeem rewards from the rewards catalog. The available rewards can vary. There is no mention on the site of a specific threshold. When I explored the platform, I saw rewards starting at around $25, so that is usually the minimum you need to earn.
Processing is not the fastest, but if you order gift cards, it does not take too long.
Who can join, and on which devices
IRI Shopper Panel is only available for residents of Australia, and you must be at least 18 years old. To become a member, you complete a short registration survey that takes, at most, 10 minutes. Answer it honestly. You then receive a confirmation email with your login details.
The app is called Scan N Go and is available on the Play Store and the Apple App Store. Your iOS device needs a camera and iOS 8.3 or above. Your Android device needs a camera and OS 5.0 or above. The app does not work on HTC and Windows phones. Navigating the app is pretty simple, because it has an intuitive user interface, in my opinion.
For support, use the FAQ for basic questions, or the contact form. The link is hard to find: click the small question mark icon in the upper right-hand corner of the site, submit a request, and you are redirected to the form. You can also try the IRI Shopper Panel Facebook page, which is pretty active.

VERY SLOW to be able to earn anything
Points are the same whether you scan 1 item or 1000 items (You only get paid 500 points per month if you scan every week but it doesn’t matter how many items you scan)
Would be better if points were issued by items scanned
I scan EVERY WEEK and it still takes approx a year to get a $100 visa
It then takes approx 5- 6 weeks to receive it
I’m seriously wondering if it’s worth it to keep going
Thanks for sharing your experiences about this.
I just sent an email stating exactly that I’m new and just downloaded scanner but after reading pathetic results like scan for 6 wks and may h e enough points to redeem a $20 gift card?….that can’t be serious surely! The amount of data 1 person can produce for them in 6 wks is massive and they then distribute all that data to better there production for only a $20 gift card that’s worse than working in a sweat shop seriously nope not happening I’ll update once I get a resolution I’m not that desperate to push companies up the chain that only reward me with peanuts
