Is Confero Mystery Shopping a Scam or Legit? (Full Review)

Confero Mystery Shopping Rating

Confero can serve as a decent secondary mystery shopping site to earn from as long as you are patient because you’ll have to wait some time before you can receive your earnings.

I tested Confero Mystery Shopping to see if it is worth your time. It is legit and pays decently per assignment, but only in the US, and you wait a long time for your money. Below is what I found, and which sites I recommend instead.

Partially Tested Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit mystery shopping, but a long wait for your pay

Around $20 to $30 per assignment to PayPal, with no threshold. US only, and pay arrives weeks after your report.

Good for you ifYou live in a big US city and want a secondary mystery shopping site, and you can wait for your money.
Skip it ifYou live outside the US or in a small town, or you want to be paid quickly.

The short answer

Confero Mystery Shopping is legit. You really get paid to perform mystery shopping assignments, usually around $20 to $30 each, through PayPal and with no payout threshold.

But you wait a long time for your money: compensation is issued in the month after your report, or the month after that. The assignments are only in the US, and how many you get depends on your city. It can serve as a decent secondary mystery shopping site if you are patient.

What I like
  • Offers payment via PayPal
  • No payout threshold
  • Offers decent rewards
  • Purchases are reimbursed when your report is approved
  • Mobile-friendly website
What I don’t like
  • Limited earning opportunities
  • Long wait time for payments
  • Only available in the US, as far as I can tell
  • No mobile app

My experience with Confero

I signed up as a mystery shopper and looked at the job board, the payment terms and the support options. This is what I looked at, and what I did not test.

Is Confero legit and safe?

Yes, Confero is legit. You really get paid for the assignments you complete. But that does not automatically make it worth your time. Here is what you should know.

  • Assignments depend on your city

In a metropolitan area, there are plenty of shops that are probably clients. In a small town, you will most likely not find any opportunities to earn at all. This is how mystery shopping sites work.

  • A long wait for your pay

Compensation for reports from the 1st to the 15th is issued between the 25th and 30th of the following month. For reports from the 16th to the 31st, it is issued between the 10th and 15th of the second following month.

  • Some assignments need you to buy something

You are reimbursed together with your compensation, but only if your submission is approved. Read the assignment details before you apply.

  • Watch out for scams that use the name

There are many mystery shopping scams that misuse the names of legit companies. If someone sends you a check for a “secret shopper” job, be careful. Confero pays through PayPal, the only payment method I saw when I tested it.

  • US only

The site does not say which countries it is available in, but from what I can gather, the assignments are only in the US.

My takeConfero is not a bad mystery shopping site, in my opinion. However, it doesn’t offer anything unique as well. It can serve as a decent secondary mystery shopping site to earn from, as long as you are patient, because you’ll have to wait some time before you can receive your earnings.

Confero only works in some US cities, and the pay takes weeks. These mystery shopping sites may suit you better.

How you earn on Confero

There is only one way to earn: mystery shopping assignments.

Mystery shopping assignmentsAround $20 to $30 each
Confero job board with assignments

Before you can view the assignments, you have to complete your profile and pass the certification test. You get a maximum of six attempts, which should be enough. Just make sure to read the document the test asks you to read.

After that, you see the assignments near your area on the job board. Click one to read the full details, and apply if you want to do it. If the assignment needs confirmation, you receive an automatic confirmation or denial email. Some assignments can be self-assigned: you put them on your name and set the date, without a confirmation email.

Do the tasks the assignment asks for, then submit your report to Confero for review. If your submission is accepted, you receive the promised compensation. Some assignments ask you to make purchases, which are reimbursed when your report is approved.

How much can you make?

It depends mostly on your location. If you live in a metropolitan area, there will be plenty of opportunities, because many shops around you are probably clients. If you live in a small town, you will most likely not find any opportunities to earn at all.

Most assignments pay around $20 to $30, which is not a bad rate, in my opinion. So the earning potential is good in a big city, and next to nothing in a small one.

Payout method and schedule

Report submittedCompensation issued
1st to 15th of the month25th to 30th of the following month
16th to 31st of the month10th to 15th of the second following month

Every completed assignment is credited to your Confero account balance, together with any purchase you are reimbursed for. You withdraw through PayPal, the only payment method I saw when I was testing it, so make sure you have a verified PayPal account before you join.

There is no payout threshold. As long as you have earned something, you receive it according to this schedule. The wait is the main downside. For more sites with a convenient payment method, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.

Who can join, and on which devices

The site does not say which countries it is available in, but from what I can gather, the mystery shopping assignments are only in the US.

To join, go to the Evaluator Login/Signup page and choose one of the two mystery shopping platforms. It does not matter which one: both offer, more or less, the same jobs from Confero.

Confero has no app, but the website is optimized for mobile, so you can check for assignments on your phone. For submitting reports, a laptop or desktop works best, in my opinion.

For questions, check the FAQ page for evaluators first. You can also use the contact form for shoppers and auditors (the orange form), or call the number at the bottom of the website.
