Remotasks Review 2026: Is It Legit? Pros, Cons and My Verdict

Remotasks

Remotasks is a legit micro-task site that pays you for doing small data entry tasks. There are many tasks available, so it can be a way to earn some extra cash but it will take patience as the rewards are not high.

I checked out Remotasks to see if its AI training tasks are worth your time. It is a real micro-task site, but the pay is low, the training is unpaid, and several readers report work that was not paid. Below is what I found, and which sites I would pick first.

Partially Tested Last tested

Real AI training tasks, but low pay and unpaid training

Weekly PayPal or AirTM payouts with no threshold. Unpaid training and low rates, and several readers report blocked accounts and tasks that were not approved.

The short answer

Remotasks is a real micro-task site that pays you for small data entry tasks that train AI. Payments go out automatically every week through PayPal or AirTM, with no threshold.

But you must pass unpaid training before you can earn, and the pay is low. Several readers report blocked accounts, rates lowered after the work was done, and tasks that were not approved, so they were not paid. I do not use it to earn anymore, and I recommend other sites instead.

What I like
  • Payment via PayPal or AirTM
  • Payment is made automatically every week
  • Plenty of tasks available
  • No payout threshold
What I don’t like
  • Low pay
  • Tasks require patience and quite a bit of effort
  • You have to take unpaid training courses to start earning
  • Not clear which countries can join
  • Several readers report poor support, blocked accounts and tasks that were not approved

My experience with Remotasks

I signed up for Remotasks and looked at the training, the tasks, the payment settings and the support. This is what I looked at, and what I did not test.

Is Remotasks legit and safe?

Remotasks is a real platform that pays for tasks. But I have heard complaints from readers, here and on my YouTube channel. Here is what you should know before you start.

  • Work that is not approved is not paid

Remotasks reviews your work before you get paid. Several readers say tasks they did very thoroughly were not approved, so they did not get paid. There is no guarantee your work will be approved, and that can affect your earnings dramatically.

  • Rates lowered after the work was done

Some readers say the rate was suddenly lowered after they had completed the tasks. You see the rate before you start, but that does not always protect you.

  • Blocked accounts and slow support

Several readers report accounts banned or removed from projects for “low quality” or community guideline violations, without an explanation. Support does not always get back to members, especially about tasks they were not paid for.

  • Unpaid training before you earn

You must pass training courses and a test before a task type unlocks, and you are not paid for it. The Bootcamp takes 10–14 days, and there is no guarantee you pass.

  • You find out late if your country can join

Remotasks only works in select countries. You only see if your country is accepted after you give your phone number and enter the SMS code.

My takeRemotasks is not your ordinary GPT site. You can earn some extra cash if you are patient enough, but it takes a lot of effort, and the pay is low. Personally, I do not use the platform anymore as a way to earn after testing it, because there are many ways to earn that are more effective. If you prefer to earn with less effort and time, check out the top GPT sites or the best data entry jobs instead.

Remotasks pays little for a lot of unpaid training and effort. These sites let you start earning sooner.

How you earn on Remotasks

There are 2 ways to earn: tasks and referrals. Membership tiers give you easier access to tasks. Tap one to read more.

TasksLow, by accuracy
Remotasks training center overview

The tasks are mainly data entry tasks that build smarter AI, like drawing boxes around cars and other objects, moderating content, identifying spam and categorizing t-shirts.

Each task type unlocks after you finish a training course and pass a test. The training is unpaid. The optional Bootcamp takes 10–14 days and unlocks more tasks, including the highest-paying ones. I suggest you try some smaller trainings and tasks first.

Remotasks reviews your work before you are paid. Your pay depends partly on your accuracy: you need 100% accuracy for the full payment. Some projects give an early payout or an extra payout for high accuracy.

Referral program$10, with conditions
Remotasks referral program overview

You can earn a $10 bonus for every person you invite. You only get it once your friend earns at least $20 from tasks, within two weeks of registering. Your friend then also gets $10.

Earning $20 on Remotasks takes a long time, so the bonus is not easy to get. Explain the rules to the people you invite.

Membership tiersEasier access to tasks
Remotasks membership tiers

There are 3 tiers: Standard, Preferred and Elite. You earn XP points for tasks. Reach a set number of XP points in a week, and you get 1 Remopoint.

4 Remopoints make you a Preferred member, and 20 make you Elite. Higher tiers give easier access to tasks and faster support. It takes patience.

How much can you make?

Your pay depends on the task type, the task’s complexity, the instructions and your accuracy. The closer you get to 100% accuracy, the more you earn.

Remotasks itself says it can be up to $18 per hour, but it is very unlikely you will ever get there. Most people have to be lucky to reach a few dollars per hour. There is no guarantee that tasks are always available, or that your work is approved.

Before you can earn anything, you have to invest time in unpaid training. Overall, the earning potential is not the best, and the work can be quite tiring.

Payout methods and schedule

  5. Too vague on what this pays. What is a “little” amount. Quantify be “patient”.
Can you or anyone provide metrics on avg hourly rate in first month, 3 months, 6 months? Anything at all that will allow me to quantify the effort to put in to this before I start and find out I am making $2/hr after training and time served working in the first month? Can this go up to $20+/hr after the first couple of months?

    • It varies a lot from tasks to task how much you can earn and also depends on how fast you work. Remotasks itself says it can be up to $18 per hour but that is very unlikely you will ever get there. Most people will have to be lucky to reach a few dollars per hour. 6. I actually don’t understand the premise of the Remotasks enterprise. If you are an expert in a particular field how can they assess your work as accurate or otherwise? Surely the point is for you to steer the algorithm using expert knowledge? As a biology professor who as occasionally delved into ChatGTP, for example, LMMs in their current form often give bogus but convincing (from a student’s perspective) answers to even basic concepts in my particular field. So who/what exactly at Remotasks is qualified to assess the accuracy of my input to their algorithms? If it’s another LLM then you have a recursive feedback loop that will predictably spiral downwards into confirmation bias and increasing delusion!

  7. Hilarious. I have a decade of coding experience and they have a poorly written rubric, an indecipherable way of judging the screening tasks, and no feedback on what can be improved and literally ZERO support. Probably the WORST company I’ve ever worked with.

  9. I find it quite great, the highest I’ve ever been paid is $700 but it takes patience and high-quality work. They are strict and they will kick you off tasks if your quality isn’t good. So make sure to thoroughly read the instructions because if you “keep” getting kicked off tasks, that’s not a good sign from Remotasks. The highest position in Remotasks is a Reviewer with a salary of $91,000 – $92,000 a year. I don’t recommend this being someone’s only source of income if you have massive bills to pay, especially in this economy. I find it brings an extra source of income, it’s more of a gig or side hustle. I don’t really have bills, I consider myself to a have a job and side hustle. Only thing I would say I hate about Remotasks is that you could get $500 one week than $100 the next work. You have to understand this is a gig, not a reliable source of income to stand behind.

      • Tell me why I got a mail that my account is banned due to violation of community guide.. of which they don’t tell me what you did exactly…with over 1000 dollars unpaid which I worked for whole week, and the support team isn’t responding or sending my funds

        Reply
        • Only their support can tell you why this is. I have nothing to do with Remotasks and cannot see why they block accounts. But to be honest, if you say you made more than $1000 in one week on Remotasks, it sounds very unrealistic unless you have cheated somehow. You will not naturally earn this much in just a week on Remotasks. And if you have broken their terms, they will ban you.

  10. I was working as an AI trainer completing tasks in field of expertise, Nutrition. After just a few days (as I was SUCCESSFULLY completing my tasks, i.e., they were accepted), I was informed that I was removed from my projects because of “low quality” work, and I was “in violation of Community Guidelines.” I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I proceeded to inquire via ‘support’ as to what is ‘low quality’ so that I could make any appropriate improvements in my tasking work. I inquired numerous times … each time I received a canned response stating that I did “low quality” work. I NEVER received any hint of a reason or explanation. Then I received a response stating that – “not to worry” – I would be allocated to a different project category, but IF I received another warning flag, I would be let go entirely. Well, the fact is that I NEVER even received an INITIAL warning in the first place!! Actually, I received TWO separate emails stating that I would be reassigned. However, I soon received a response from a different rep stating that I was removed from ALL tasking, i.e., let go. Once again, NO WARNINGS, NO REASON GIVEN, AND NO EXPLANATION. This is a completely incompetent and unprofessional organization. To accept an individual as an AI trainer after completing a screening process that took around 2 hours to complete … and then hiring that individual … and then giving that individual several tasks which he successfully completed … to just boot that individual out the door without a specific reason or explanation?? I would say that’s pretty bush league. This company is a complete a joke and a fraud. They should be investigated.

Then, after numerous requests, they would never provide with any explanation as to what “low quality” is. I was also told that I was “in violation of their “Community Guidelines” – whatever that is! They make it sound like I committed a crime. Again, no explanation whatsoever.
Furthermore, I was told that, not to worry, I would be allocated to a different project. However, if I received a second flag, I would be booted out the door. Well, it turns out that I was never reassigned to another project, and, without any so-called second flag, I was booted out the door.
This outfit is a total disgrace and scam. Be warned people. They should be investigated for fraud.

  19. Hello Mikael,

I learned about Remotasks through your channel and was intrigued enough to give it a shot. However, when it came time for payment, I encountered a rather frustrating issue.

Initially, I was promised a rate of $0.39 per task. Yet, just before the payment was due, they suddenly altered the rate to $0.12 per task, and to make matters worse, they deleted all the tasks I had diligently worked on. This essentially amounted to them taking away all the effort I had put in over 6-8 hours a day, consistently for 9 days. A few days later, they further decreased the rate to $0.10 per task.

Now, here’s where it gets particularly disheartening: On the dashboard, it clearly stated that I would receive $283, which was the amount I expected. However, the reality was quite different, as they only paid me $17.30.

I’ve made several attempts to reach out to them through email, but as is often the case, they haven’t responded.

I’m at a loss for what to do next. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or guidance you might have on how to proceed.

  29. Remote task tricks you into going into training, with payment. Initial payment will be sent not full, then they BAIT you into doing a second training but with higher payment, of $50, if you pass and additional $20, so a total of $70 if you do it a certain time, in my case within 24 hours, That training (or task) they call it takes 2-3 hours and then once you submit, they will say that they will send the $50 they promised you (no mention of additional $20) ONLY AFTER you have completed FIVE MORE tasks when you pass. They just made you do some work for free actually. Because that training / task they ask you, can already be used by chatbots as response. BEWARE of this company trick!

  33. Tried Remo for almost two months, they pull you in with an ‘easy’ task, then they move you to a task that is much more difficult to complete and difficult to earn money from. The initial task paid hourly, the difficult task paid per ‘quality response’ which is open to anyone’s interpretation which is NOT clearly defined by remo. Then add in the constant software problems and bugs, it’s a LOT of effort for little pay. You don’t have a say in what task you work on. If you have the time and patience to sort it out, you may be able to make it work, but quick and easy it is not. On a side note, never had an issue getting paid, but there is a definite ‘cap’ as to how much you can make which they don’t state.

    • I’ve made just under $600 gross in my first month, working about 6 hours per week. That equals out to about $25 per hour. I don’t think that’s bad at all for something you can do from your couch without having to interact with other people. Plus I did get paid to complete the trainings. This review mentions that the trainings are unpaid, so maybe that’s changed since.

I’ve tried a lot of different micro-tasking sites, and most I’ve tried pay less than a dollar per task. That’s not the case on this site. It takes a little bit of work. It’s not passive income. But compared to other similar sights, I really like it.

I was busy taking one of their exams when an example of what some tasks pay and when I saw $0.06, I was like no man this is the same rubbish as Toloka app. The tasks are not easy task to do, require patience of a lion stalking a prey and they take up to 2 or more hours to complete. Truly speaking you are better off trying to find coins inside your sofa than waste your time with these apps.

  35. Hello there,
One problem I have is that many of my tasks have been pending.

When does it show if it has been approved or rejected.

Some things seem really fishy on this site.

    • It is a way for them to verify your identity, and they try to minimize fraud like that, I assume. If you want to know more about exactly what they use the info for, you need to contact their support.

  38. I have been working for Remotasks for 3 weeks.

My tasks entailed being given a word, writing a prompt, and then answering the prompt.

I am a natural writer, so it was a great fit.

    My supervisors were very nice.

    I did get paid.

For the last 3 days I have not been allowed to work, and I have no idea why.

I did earn $180 this week, and I have seen reports that Remotasks blocks workers who “earn too much”

    There aren’t any answers.

      • It’s weird. I also earned $170 from them doing my job with great quality. Then they suddenly empty queued me the next day. TF.

      • Contacting support doesn’t work either, I’ve been trying to contact them for three weeks now, no response from them whatsoever.

    • WOOOW thats very useful info, cause ive also heard from other people, seems like they are actually implementing some true tasks in those “trainings” and they dont pay ppl much about doing them. I also experienced my task being below 100 percent accuracy, while there is not ONE mistake in it. So, this is a little bit shady for me.
The bootcamp? No one answered me for weeks, when i applied for it…i dont know what it is, but this Site makes me wonder if its legit at all with the payments.

  39. Nah, they pay too low. Even if you do a lot of work with a hundred percent accuracy like I did, the biggest they paid me is only $14 for the whole freaking week. This has been happening since last year. No human in their right mind can live with only $14 a week. Also they’ve been having less and less work available for people from what I’ve heard, even in MOD accounts and audit. LMFAO.

    • Thanks for sharing. As I mention in the review, some tasks will give very low payment and can take a lot of patience.

    • That was a payment bug, But yes the pay is very low. You need to have very good computer specs, fast internet. The pay is now 1 dollar or less an hour. Most the time less for high accuracy. Seems Remotasks is all about the profits now. In a few years time they will be paying a dollar a day.

    • I explain the payout schedule in the review above. And be aware you also need to reach the payout threshold before you will get paid.

      • Remotasks is good and reasonable way to make money if you speak languages like Spanish french and such you will find some projects that pay 4 to 6 $ per hour There’s no threshold, if you earn 0.1$ you’ll find 0.1$ on your PayPal

    • It is not available in Congo. You can see the list of countries Remotasks is available in the review.

So this is the reason you have not received a code.

  42. Hello Mikael,
Found out that Remotasks only accept these countries. Thought this would help you to update the forum. This is not on their site but someone from reddit had contacted remotasks asking about the supported countries and these were the countries on that list. Remembered you and came here to send this.
    “Argentina – Brazil – Chile – Colombia – Costa Rica – Dominican Republic – Egypt – Guatemala – Hungary – Indonesia – Kenya – Malaysia – Mauritius – Mexico – Morocco – Nairobi – Nicaragua – Nigeria – Pakistan – Peru – Philippines – Russia – South Africa – Sri Lanka – Trinidad & Tobago – UAE – Ukraine – Venezuela – Zimbabwe.”
I’m currently on remotasks and is from Sri Lanka
