GameChampions has closed
The GameChampions challenges and tournaments I reviewed are gone. GameChampions is now a business service for sweepstakes and social casino brands, so you cannot join or earn on it as a gamer now. I keep my review below as a record. The sites I would pick instead are further down.
GameChampions let gamers compete in their favorite video games for cash and prizes. It has now closed for gamers. I tested it myself before that. Below is what I found, and which sites I would pick instead.
GameChampions has closed
GameChampions has closed for gamers, so you can no longer earn on it. When it was running, it was legit, but only a fit for skilled competitive gamers, and some ways to earn put your own money at risk.

Was GameChampions legit and safe?
GameChampions has closed for gamers, so you can no longer join or earn on it. When it was running, it was legit, because you could really win real money. These were the catches.
- It has closed for gamers
The challenges and tournaments are gone. GameChampions is now a business service for sweepstakes and social casino brands.
- You could lose your own money
One-on-one challenges and pay-to-enter tournaments were not free. You funded them with a deposit or your winnings, and if you lost, the amount was deducted from your balance.
- Mostly for skilled competitive gamers
Most members were competitive gamers, so a casual gamer would have a hard time winning.
- A cut of your winnings and unclear thresholds
GameChampions took a percentage of your earnings when you withdrew, and the site was not clear about the payout thresholds.
My takeGameChampions has closed for gamers, so it is no longer an option. When it was running, it could be a fit for a very skilled gamer, but not for casual gamers. To earn extra cash without risking your own money, see the alternatives below.
How you earned on GameChampions
There were 2 ways to earn. Tap one to read more.
One-on-one challengesBets from $5 to $200
You created a challenge in the member dashboard, or accepted one from another member. You played sports games like FC 24 or FIFA 23 on an Xbox or a PS4.
You set the game, console and game mode, and picked an amount to bet: $5, $10, $20, $30, $50, $80, $100 or $200. You funded the bet with a deposit of real money or with your winnings, and linked your game ID so the site could track it.
The winner received the winnings in their GameChampions balance. If you lost, the amount was deducted from your balance. This option was not free, so you could lose money.
TournamentsPrizes per tournament
There were free and pay-to-enter tournaments, for Fortnite and League of Legends. When I tested the site, Valorant and Warzone 2 were listed but not enabled.
In a free tournament, the top players received a prize, usually shown on the tournament page. Pay-to-enter tournaments cost money to join, and their prizes were higher.
Most members started with free tournaments to earn enough for pay-to-enter ones. That is what I would have done too, because it meant no out-of-pocket expenses.

How much could you make?
It depended mostly on your gaming skills. If you were very good at the games the site featured, you could potentially earn good money.
If you were a casual gamer, I did not suggest GameChampions, because most members were competitive gamers and you would have a hard time winning.
How GameChampions paid
Your winnings went to your GameChampions balance. From there, you could withdraw them in several ways. Each method had its own threshold, but the site was not clear about the amounts.
| Method | Fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PayPal | No fee | Cash |
| Prepaid Visa card | No fee | Cash |
| Gift cards | No fee | Several stores |
| SWIFT bank transfer | €7 | Straight to your bank account |
| EU SEPA bank transfer | €2 | Straight to your bank account |
You did not receive the full amount of your winnings when you withdrew, because GameChampions took a percentage. That was how it made money, since the service was free. For sites that pay through PayPal today, see the top sites that pay via PayPal.
