Current App Review 2026 (Mode Earn): Is It Legit? Pros, Cons and My Verdict

Current App

Current (aka Mode Earn) is a legit GPT app that will allow you to enjoy music and at the same time, earn a bit of cash which can eb great. But if all you are mainly after is the earning part, then there are better apps.

Current (called Mode Earn app on Android) pays you points for listening to music. I checked out the app to see if it is worth your time. Below is how it works, what readers report about their rewards, and which apps I recommend instead.

Partially Tested Re-tested Oct 2026

Legit music app, but low rewards and older reader complaints

You earn points for listening to radio stations, offers and games. PayPal from $0.10, but the point value is unclear.

Good for you ifYou want to listen to music anyway and see the points as a small bonus.
Skip it ifYou want to earn a real amount, or you are not willing to risk a reward that never arrives.

The short answer

Current is a legit app that pays you points to listen to music. On Android, the same app is called Mode Earn app. You can also earn from paid offers, games and referrals.

But the rewards are low, and the point system is confusing, so you have to invest a lot of time to earn a decent amount. Many readers also report redeemed rewards that never arrived. If you are mainly after the earning part, you are better off using other apps.

What I like
  • Available globally
  • Cash payment through PayPal
  • Low payout threshold
  • User-friendly app
What I don’t like
  • Low rewards
  • The reward system is a bit confusing
  • Audio quality is not that great
  • It has a different name on Android, which is confusing
  • Many readers report rewards that never arrived

My experience with Current

I installed the app, listened to the radio stations and looked at the offers, games, rewards and support. This is what I looked at, and what I did not test.

Is Current legit and safe?

Current is a legit app that does pay you to listen to music. But that does not automatically make it worth using. Here is what you should know before you install it.

  • Readers report rewards that never arrived

Several readers wrote that a reward they redeemed never arrived, mostly physical products such as headphones and earbuds, and in one case a PayPal payment. Support sent a general reply about delays, or did not reply. One reader got the points refunded after the postal service marked the item undelivered.

  • Low rewards

Most paid offers pay less than $0.5. The games pay very little, and you earn fewer points the longer you play the same game. You have to invest a lot of time to earn a decent amount.

  • A confusing point system

Current does not explain how many points you earn for listening, and the point value is not fixed. $0.10 through PayPal costs 2,800 points, and $3 costs 14,100 points.

  • The app runs on top of other apps

You have to allow the app to display over other apps. It keeps running in the background and even takes over your lock screen.

My takeIf you want an app to listen to music and earn a little extra cash at the same time, Current can do that. But if all you are really after is the earning part, you are better off using other apps. You will not earn a significant amount without investing a lot of time, and many readers report rewards that never arrived.

Current pays very little for your time. These apps give you more ways to earn.

How you earn on Current

There are 4 ways to earn. Paid offers are the most regular earner. Tap one to read more.

Listening to musicNot explained
Playing music on Mode Earn app

You earn points by streaming any of the radio stations in the app. You choose which type of music you are into.

Before you start, you have to allow the app to display over other apps, so it keeps running in the background and earns points. Current does not explain how its point system works. The points depend on your location, how long you stream and the station you listen to.

During playback, the screen sometimes tells you that you can complete a survey or offer for more points. It is also fine to just let the music play while you do other things.

Paid offersMostly under $0.5
Paid offers in the Current app

Most offers ask you to sign up for a website, answer a survey or quiz, or play a mobile game. There is usually an offer you can work on, so you can earn points every day.

Follow the instructions down to the letter, or you will not get the reward. The offers come from advertisers, so do not be alarmed if you are taken to another platform.

Playing gamesVery low
Playing games on Mode Earn app

You earn by completing tasks in certain games, or per minute you play a game. You earn fewer points the longer you play the same game.

There are not a lot of games, and the rewards are very low. I only recommend this if you have nothing else to do.

Referral program5,000 points + 3%
Referral program of Mode Earn app

You earn 5,000 points for each person you invite, once they play a game in the app. You also earn 3% of what your referrals earn from playing games.

The reward is decent, but Current is not something I would promote to my friends.

How much can you make?

Current works like a Get-Paid-To (GPT) app: the more offers and surveys you complete and the more music you listen to, the more you earn. You cannot measure how many points you earn from listening, so the offers are the only real barometer.

Most offers pay less than $0.5, so you have to complete a lot of offers and surveys before you earn a significant amount. Readers also found that the points per minute of listening differ a lot per country.

That is why Current does not have a high earning potential. You have to invest a lot of time to earn a decent amount. If you want to earn more, see the top GPT sites instead.

Rewards and minimum

RewardMinimumNotes

ProductsVaries by productFitness watches, earphones, projectors, drones and more. Several readers report products that never arrived.

I like that you can withdraw from $0.10. It is a very low payout threshold. If you want more sites with a low threshold, see the fastest paying sites.

Devices, joining and support

Current is mobile only, so you cannot earn on a desktop or laptop. The app is called Current in the App Store and Mode Earn app in the Google Play Store. It is fairly user-friendly, and you can record songs you like to listen to them offline. The audio quality is more like the radio than Spotify.

The app is available globally. You sign up with Facebook or your own login details, and confirm your email. To cash out through PayPal, you must be at least 18.

Current has a large FAQ. If that does not help, you can submit a ticket through the support page and track its status.

  1. Hello again Mikael another update, i emailed current again asking for my points back, this time they responded:
“Thank you for redeeming a physical product from Current Mobile. We apologize for the inconvenience but our records show the postal service has labeled the item undelivered.
As a result, we have refunded the points to your account on June 25,2021. Please make sure you have the latest version of the app to see this in your account.”

They refunded me 15.500 points and didn’t answer why i couldn’t see the air pods in the redeemed history. I didn’t expect an answer because in two previous emails they didn’t respond, clearly they do have problems with their customer service and also i think that i spend more than 15.500 points to redeem the air pods but i don’t intent to complain about this. I will try to redeem pay pall money next time!!!

  2. Update: It’s a scam at 15.08.20 i redeemed the airpods , after a few months i did try to communicate via emails, no serious answer just that they are sorry for the delay, at the third email i was asking why i couldn’t see anymore the airpods in the redeemed history of the app and why i didn’t received the airpods, they didn’t even bother to answer.

  3. Current is definitely good for giftcards(Paypal payments) if the person lives in USA,UK or Canada. I have confirmed that the points per minute of listening are really different per country. In USA its 5 points with bonus, here it is 0,4 haha.. ive counted how many days would i have to listen to music with boost to earn 10 dollar giftcard…i figured out it would be around 2 months nonstop. People told me it was 2 points earlier but due to ‘Satisfaction of customers in my country’ it was lowered..Its good app but depends on the country.

  4. It’s great to hear somebody’s pleased with this service. I’ve been waiting over 4 months for products I earned.

Someone from Google Pay Store even intervened.

All I ever get is a canned email from some Andre at Current requesting phone number & email associated with my account; I’ve supplied same 4 times. Said information has NEVER changed.

  5. I totally agree with a user labeling this app is a scam. I earned enough points to get earbuds. According 2 their info an email confirmation would be sent out 2-3 days later. A week later I contacted Support…nothing. Bout week later, I tried sent another email 2 Support….again, nothing. About a week later, i tried 4 a 3rd time…again, nothing.

I deleted this app with enough points[around 52,000] 2 have selected a couple of nice products

    SCAM. SCAM. SCAM. SCAM. SCAM.

  6. I redeemed headphones 15 of August and i’m still waiting, i contacted their support in 7 of October and they responded ” We are terribly sorry for the delay. Due to the huge number of redemptions we are getting lately, you may experience delays in receiving your redemptions. Please check your email linked to your Current app account from time to time to see if you have received it already. We are working hard to get them to you as soon as possible.” a general bs they to every one i imagine.
And here i am still waiting….
